While DP is a supremely talented player, i'd disagree a bit there.

Technically they both offer the same things on the pitch, almost. Ale produce a bit more though, from freekicks to finishing the ball. I've followed Totti closely since his first years and he's one of my fav players btw, they're both genius players but I see Del Piero more productive in some areas.

I think as a playmaker/pure trequartista Totti is probably better than Del Piero but as a foward/striker etc Del Piero is definitely much better.

Indeed. But Totti hasn't played as Trequartista ever since Spalletti's 2nd season (except for the Azzurri) he has always played as Central striker most of the times or as support striker and in that department I'd say Del Piero is a bit more clinical than Francesco.

Hard to say about Baggio since I'm too young but from what I've seen and heard he was probably better than both, plus he arguably did more than both combined for Italy (don't kill me for this last part).

Whereas Del Piero & Totti are the next level down with Ronaldo etc. Also, the thing about Baggio is that as a player he fulfilled his potential (aside from missing a penalty which more comes down to luck) compared to Del Piero who had the injury and Totti who stayed at Roma.

Are you talking about the Azzurri here? Del Piero fulfilled his potential and demonstrated it in 19 years in Serie A and in CL and on International tournaments except for the World Cup, but it wasn't that bad because at the end of the day he did win the WC and was part of it.

And speaking of luck, had Ale had a bit of luck just a bit, he would have won the CL more than any player. Just saying.

alex's dribbling was faster than totti in their younger days and also alex has more elegance than totti in their older days/today; but totti plays faster direct football than alex.

It's really sad that the days of players like Alex, Totti, Baggio are over. One can argue that Cassano comes close but I don't see any player in Italy that can or will live up to that standard. The new era of Italian strikers has started with players like SES and Balo and it looks like the best players these days rely more on speed and physicality rather than genius or vision.

The reason started loving football was because of those legends mentioned above, I remember watching Brescia's games just to see Baggio's magic. I miss those days

As for the Totti vs Alex debate, I think Totti has better vision and passing, he's in general, a more inventive player, but in terms of technique, I think Ale wins it. In terms of dribbling, you would feel that the ball was glued to his foot, while you didn't really feel that with Totti.

As for finishing, it's very close, really difficult to say who's better. Both are brilliant with again, different strengths and weaknesses. Totti has the more powerful shot, Alex has better finesse and accuracy. Alex had a better weaker foot than Totti and had better attacking instincts. Totti was more calm in his finishing, he had more composure.

Very hard to say who's better.
