lol that's such BS, I don't think anyone said that they had a better mercato. Most of the people, including me, said how they can easily finish out of top 3 and how their mercato wasn't a one year miracle. It didn't take Marotta one year to make this Juve, so that comparison is retarded by itself. Praises were fingered at good moves, but I guess people are children if they can't accept it. They clearly had great moves, but it's gonna take at least 3 years for them to start getting some decent results, and it was said in the summer as well.
Which move of Roma's was great mate?

However Osman, it's the same with everything, Inter Milans mercato we laughed at, Milans we had laughs at. It's all swings and roundabouts in the end.

Of course, Roma have a real project that is bound to lead to success and deserves to be given time.

Not like Juve's project that was relentlessly mocked from the start and just seen as a way for the directors to have judgement on their performance to be deferred.

He's a tidy enough player.

I just don't see him making significant contributions on a regular basis.
From the times I seen Roma (not much lately) I noticed he has been given the Pizzaro role more or less, playing too deep, not really playing in the hole box to box AM that he did best with at Lyon (noticed couple games were him and Totti were getting in eachothers way). Plus the fact that he is getting used to a new team and league, will take some time. But I like him the most of their signings, even if yes Lamela has most potential (depending on how he is used, LE is bit random with his reshuffling of the attacking roles).

When Marotta came he had a nice team at his disposal. Current Roma had to change almost all of their players, of course it would require years. Secco and co. screwed more years at Juve too.
Marotta joined Juve when they had just finished 7th.

Roma finished 6th last season. Why did they have to change so many players?

He's mostly been playing as a trequartista since Totti got injured.

I think we all know we finished 7th and had a team full of Secco buys and several ageing players.

Because of the old and limited players. They wanted to change system and current players were garbage. Quality between teams was obvious, despite of the similar standings.

Marotta's first mercato here wasn't great and I didn't like it. However, this season he did a great job and he got my prises, I never said Roma had a better mercato.

I get laughs and taunting, but I sense some of the mocking was intended as actual critique of their mercato or goals this season, which paints them as something they havent beeing aiming for, meaning they arent really geared to be competetive this season, and havent claimed to be in advance. They suffered last season, and they changed their team way too much to improve on that, the reverse, them struggling was predicted because it takes time to make a whole new team (we should know, we tried making whole new team couple times already). They been talking about giving this team building time. Which is bizzare, because Roma in general are impatient bunch.
