De Rossi could leave for free
Daniele De Rossi has refused to rule out the possibility of leaving Roma on a free transfer next summer. “It depends.”
The midfielder is only tied to the Giallorossi until June 2012 and negotiations over a renewal are proving to be problematic.
“This is certainly a matter that should have been resolved earlier,” the Roman said from Italy’s Coverciano training base on Wednesday.
“Things have stalled right now and we are studying the matter, but we’ll certainly find a solution, in one way or another, that suits everyone.
“Could I leave on a Bosman? It depends on the contract and if we reach an agreement.
“I have never put pressure on Roma and I never will as that would affect my relationship with the club.”
De Rossi has spent his entire career at the Stadio Olimpico and he hopes to continue his Giallorossi adventure.
“I want to play in Italy for five more years, then I would consider playing my football outside of the peninsula,” he added.
“I’m attracted by the idea of playing abroad. I’m thinking of Japan, China, America, it would be a good life experience.
“Another Italian club? I can’t imagine that because I have always played for Roma.”
Should De Rossi not sign a new deal then he is expected to be targeted by Real Madrid and Manchester City amongst others.
