Sampdoria have released a video on its official website starring captain Angelo Palombo and young starlet Andrea Poli asking for support from its fans during the dark period the club is currently experiencing.

The move is unprecedented for a football club in the increasingly fast growing world of social media and Internet 3.0 and the video has been shot with the help of the Sampdoria Ultras - the club's biggest fan group.

The video which has shots of the training ground, dressing room and the fans sees captain Palombo call on the Samp followers to support the team and not be disheartened by the successive defeats they have experienced.

"I am the captain of the team... Never let the worm of defeat creep into us. On every ball, at every moment I'll be there. We do not want to be alone. As we play, we need the fans and it is for them that we want to do it, us and them, together."

The Blucerchiati are in the midst of a crisis at the moment as they lie only three points above the relegation zone, having won only once in their last 11 games. They have also lost the services of Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini who led them to fourth spot last year.
