Italian football is getting so much recognition and publicity in Sweden right now. Last season when Zlatan left Serie A Swedish media totally forgot about Serie A but now with Zlatan coming back, Milan signing Robinho, Inter being CL champions and the biggest sports channel in Sweden broadcasting Serie A the league is popular again.

When in Sweden they start making the Bianconeri flag in their IKEA products and start beginning giving those products Italian names. Than we can talk about how real those motherfuckers are.

Gattuso worried about Italy
Thursday 2 September, 2010
Milan midfielder Rino Gattuso admits he is worried about Italy's future because apart from Mario Balotelli and Antonio Cassano, there is little quality.

The World Cup winner was speaking to La Repubblica just a day before the Azzurri's opening Euro 2012 qualifier against Estonia.

“Prandelli's code of ethics is right. No group in any sector can go anywhere without rules. The first thing to do is gain the respect of the other.

“The national team doesn't lack a leader. Pirlo can drag people on the pitch and he is very good in the dressing room. And if a leader is someone who assumes responsibility, De Rossi is a born leader.

“Cassano and Balotelli aren't overvalued, but the essential thing is that they both put themselves at the service of the team and not the opposite.

“The problem is that you can count talented players on your fingers in Italy: Balotelli, perhaps Giovinco and Cassano is no longer 20.

“They blame the foreigners, but there are other Leagues who have many more foreigners than ours.”
Wow, Gattuso, the little Canine, actually gets it.

If he's a dog, what are the heads of FIGC?

Very true and sad words of Gattuso. Will go to deaf ears (though like the changes the FIGC has done with the appointments), because the higher ups solution are knee jerk BS like limiting non EUs to 1 and blaming foreigners in general.

Even though you're an Azzurri fanboy, at least you can admit this fact. Not too many have the ability to do so. Respect.

Serie A will be coming back strong now, all hail the Swedish krona.
Better currency than the Euro...

Just describing how things changed in one year.
Canal+ 1 year ago when Zlatan was sold to Barca: They dropped the tv rights for Serie A, deemed it irrevelant immediately, litterally said so by their sports department CEO (funny thing to say about top 3 league, especially one that has lots of swedish fans). Lead to us here basically only being able to see 25% of Serie A on tv.

This season another lesser channel gets the full rights, yippe, but Zlatan is signed plus they lose EPL rights (need to compensate), and what do you know, they immediately get back Serie A rights (from its daughter channel). Even change the airing of the Napoli -Viola game to Milan-Lecce immediately when he was signed :howler:

Just clarifying their obvious focus to you. Doesnt mean much about Serie A at all, Inter won CL but I dont recall much fuss over that here in Sweden, just the regular reporting.

Dont see how thats called for, those criticising FIGC and how they run things the most are exactly Azzurri fans, or generally people who are fan of italian footie. You get few simpleminded peeps smoothing things over, but most are generally pessimists who been lamenting the drought of talent plus how poorly and arhaic things have been run. I mean an Azzurri veteran and somewhat of a legend saying that so upfront perfectly illustrates it. What he has said has been said by many throughout the last couple of years.
