But we bought the goddamn Martinez for 12m. Was he Italian too? He could have been easily Polish. He could have been from all those countries you mentioned. Your argument is void.
1 non-Italian compared to 6 Italians that we bought.
Of course, it's just a coincidence that 3/4 players we buy are Italians.

You said you didn't mean Aquilani and Bonucci. Is what we paid for the other Italians we brought even equal to what we paid for Martinez who isn't even a starter for his NT and also for Catania in many games last season?

Just the record, I see Alen's point but I don't agree fully with it.

I think our mercato was good and players like Bonucci, Pepe and Aquilani will do vert, very good. While we'll get the good out of Motta and potentially great sub Lanzafame.

Storari is a good GK too.

No it's not equal. Only Bonucci cost us more than Milos Krasic. If Bonucci wasn't Italian he was surely going to cost us 15.5m eur :agree:

If Martinez was Italian we were probably gonna go over 20m for him.

But be my guests and be happy how current Juve looks. After all, it's ItalJuve, just what you always wanted, isn't it?
If only Diego could be benched for an Italian, it will be even better. And your favorite Amauri, if he could only be benched too.

Now you have to consider Bonucci too

Good luck with those ifs and remind me of them when they come to reality.

And I'm not happy with how Juve looks at all.

Ask me the same at half season.

We won't be 8th of course, I was joking. Even last year's team with Ferrara wasn't 8th. But our defense will destroy every single chance we have for a high position in the standings.

Unless of course we change something in these last 10 days.
I am not convinced of the team either but I cannot make a clear judgement on how we will play and what results we will achieve. I will not ask you anything at half season, by the winter break I would have already created a picture on our chances.

But of course, you couldn't help reacting to my attacks that instead of going after quality, we settled for average Italian players. And I believe your reaction would have been the same if they were Brazilian and I attacked our board's policy to buy average Brazilian players.

We settled for average but it was the best we could do at the moment. We went for quality but we couldn't afford it. I don't know how our budget looks but for the money we seemed to have, I think we made good moves in the mercato.

Well, why should I compare the others to Martinez?

Martinez is a midfielder who last season scored as many goals as Juve's topscorer, in the same number of matches, and he was brought as someone who can play in different positions and add great depth to the team.

How do you know why he was brought for? What if the plan is to sell Iaquinta and use him as a support striker?

He is someone who can play as a winger, SS and an attacker in a 3 men attack. I doubt that we brought him strictly for the SS position when we already have Del Piero and Diego there.
Looking at the current squad he was bought primary as a winger and then as someone who can play in other positions too.

Pepe also scored 7 goals (as a winger) and had 4 assists last season. Martinez and Pepe are of the same age. Pepe is, unlike Martinez, an international player. Why wouldn't you want to compare the two?
