tbh i wouldn't mind losing to Milan they are a good team also. and they have great history.. but to lose to napoli and palermo and bari with the scores we saw last year that's a big fuckin' no. we should win this teams easily like routine win to fight for the scudetto. Genoa Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has blamed foreign players for Italy's problems at the World Cup in South Africa.
The FIGC recently reduced the number of non-EU players Italian teams can register per season from one to two.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Gasperini said: “We keep filling teams with foreigners who are often useless.
“By now, even the academies are full of them. If we carry on like this, Italy will get even worse results than the actual ones.
“But I have confidence in Prandelli. He knows how important it is to work on the academies.
“The economic factor is predominant over the technical side of things. No one makes decisions based principally on technical necessities and the balance of the team.
“On too many occasions the players signed are those offered by agents, who represent a financial opportunity to the presidents, and not those that the team actually needs.”

I think you are being a bit simplistic with your view, foreign players clearly do restrict Italian players but as I said, I don't agree with it as the sole reason because better foreign players do improve domestic players (as long as the domestic players get a chance to play), and Italy failed at the World Cup because tactics were wrong, selection was wrong, and they made mistakes. If we are looking at it from a player versus player perspective then Italy shouldn't be drawing to NZ, Paraguay and losing to Slovakia, but football doesn't work like that.
Gasperini is right, there are too many foreign players in Italy that doesn't improve the game, but just fill the spots just as good as some Italians who sit in reserves could. For example we could've put our trust on Massiello in Serie B, but we used him as a bargaining chip in some deal and went for Grygera in January. If Massiello has another season like last one, Bari will probably sell him for 10+ millions. There are tons of cases like this in Serie A, and a lot of players doesn't have the second/third chance Massiello or Criscito had after being kicked out of Juve.
