He might be ugly, but damn he's rich. Ibrahimovic signs a new contract with Inter: Five years, at a yearly wage of 12 M € :claire:

Gazzetta
That's brilliant!!!! Here we were mulling over how to make Moratti flush his money down the toilet and less than 24 hours later he decides to give Zlatan twice as much money for no apparent reason.

This is unbelievable. He'll be getting 12 million neto, which means that Moratti will be paying little less than 24 millions a year (taxes included), only for Zlatan's wages.

What's so funny, Turk ? You think he won't be paying the taxes ? :)

Btw, welcome to serie A, Bologna.
Now only the third newcomer to serie A is unknown.

@ Seven, you'll still be in Bologna next year ?

Galliani revels in Zambro deal
Sunday 1 June, 2008

Adriano Galliani was in a triumphant mood today after finally adding Gianluca Zambrotta to the Milan ranks.

Over the last few months, the Diavolo Vice-President had made no secret of his desire to see the Azzurri stopper in a Milan shirt and had admitted to tracking Zambrotta for years.

And after weeks of painstaking negotiations, Barcelona agreed to sell the former Juventus man and Galliani’s dream came true.

“We spoke to Zambrotta every day because he wanted to come to Milan,” Galliani explained.

“I even spoke to him twice yesterday – once when we were close to completing the deal and then again when it was definite to give him the good news.”

Galliani also gave an insight into just how close he came to luring Zambro on previous occasions.

“In 1998 we were very close to signing Zambrotta and again in 2006. In ’98 it was practically a done deal.

“We had a big sum of money ready and we came to an agreement with Bari and Gianluca’s father.

“Then Bari president Vincenzo Mataresse told me that Juve had offered a certain amount that we had to match.

“But we were already in talks with Serginho and so we left him to go to the Bianconeri.

“He has arrived 10 years late, but he is on good form playing on the left or the right, judging from his performance for Italy on Friday night.”

Errr, so in 1998 Milan didn't buy Zambrotta because they were already in talks with Serginho ?
Zambrotta was a right midfielder in 1998 while Serginho was a left back. Why would Serginho exclude Zambrotta ?
The truth is Milan didn't think Zambrotta was good enough so they'd match Juve's €15.85 m offer.

Give him a break, Alen, he's an old man. It's a wonder he remembers any of that. Don't you remember what happened last summer? He promised the fans big transfers, then he completely forgot what he had said, then they signed Pato, and he somehow convinced himself that that's what he meant all along.

He's great actually.
You're talking about Mr.X here Martin.
Last summer he said that Milan will buy "Mister X" who is a great player who plays in Spain, who doesn't have an EU passport but he's about to get the passport. (everyone thought it's Ronaldinho. Great player that plays in Spain, without an EU passport, about to get the passport, which he did later)

Then Milan signed Pato and Galliani says " Pato was Mister X"

In a couple of years when they sign Ronaldinho finally he'll say the same thing he did about Zambrotta. "Years ago we were close and we almost cut the deal but now we finally have and it's about time we get him etc". "Ronaldinho is Mister X, when I said Pato is Mister X I meant a lowercase x."

will Chievo and Bologna make Serie A stronger? Chievo have fantastic fans, are playing nice football and is a nice team indeed, but i dont know anything about Bologna.

from the three that go down, i predict that only Parma will be back in next years, Livorno and Empoli are pretty useless teams, one of them being pretty rich, but stuck with not so great board, but the other ones best players are loaned or co owned at best. Serie B imo is the strongest second league in Europe, just look how Napoli, Genoa and Juve have done this year, all of them finishing at TOP 10..
