Pippo scored his 300th goal and today i've been watching some videos of his goals in Europe and Italy.
You know, if in the past 10-12 years i was owning a big football club, Inzaghi was one of the first players i was going to buy and he was going to be a sure starter.
I can't stand him, i hate his guts, but there is no better goalgetter than Pippo Inzaghi.

Yeah, he's pretty spectacular. When I saw the 300 number I had my doubts so I went to check but it's legit. He's scored more goals than DP in his career. Not surprising perhaps considering he's a pure striker but quite some important goals too. 16 in the CL one year, good lord. Also in Milan's last CL win.

Pretty underappreciated though, among Milan fans too.

Did you always dislike him?

No, he knew how to frustrate me with his missed sitters while in Juve, but i didn't dislike him, of course. How can you dislike someone who keeps scoring for your team?
His mistake was scoring all those goals for Milan and bringing them so many trophies :p

But the dislike aside, he was always my #1 in all the debates i had about what is a great striker.

Inzaghi definitely had sun on his golden career when he was with us , he used to be my hero and now i respect him so much as one of our opponents .
a few moments i will always remember from him :
his 1st minutes goal againts Verona , but the game ended 1-1
scored four goal againts Hamburg on CL , the game ended 4-4

:pint:

yeah Pippo is the ultimate example of what it is to eb a "cult"footballer, when he plays for your team you absolutely love him, he frustrates, moans, niggles and scores for fun. when he plays for an opponent you despise him, yet you secretly wish he was one of your own

In a way I liked him better at Milan because I couldn't quite get past some of those crucial misses. I also didn't like what became of his relationship to DP towards the end. So when Trez came I was pleased.

Inzaghi doesn't really bother me, mostly because of how much the English hate him.

They just can't seem to understand how a player with apparently very little footballing ability can be so good.

The English have always underrated footballing intelligence, though, so I wouldn't expect them to understand.

That's not even true. Pippo has plenty technique. You just have to see some of his goals to notice. It's just that he messes up a hell of a lot too, making himself look unskilled. When it works he's smooth, when it doesn't it's a big miss. He's always been like that.

I didn't mean he has poor technique.

I just meant that his technical ability is nothing special, considering he is a world class striker.

I don't even think his finishing ability is that exeptional. His skill is that his movement and anticipation are just unbelievably good.

:agree: there is a long standing acknowledgment that Pippo is technically one of the poorest players to ever play at the highest level, even his own team mates say that in training his technique is terrible, but when he gets a sniff of goal he is deadly

I doesn't matter if he's bad in training. When it comes to those moments he lives for he has the technique to capitalize. Plus his reflexes are superhuman within 5m of goal. :D

I don't get this urge you have to jump on him though. I mean what's he doing to you? If I see someone acting totally ridiculous and trying to pass himself off as something he's not I get the urge for some ridicule and maybe a little gossip so soon enough his reputation is known to all. But to attack him and call him a retard? I'm not even talking morality here, but what is the instinct that makes you want to do that? Do you harbor some deep seated disgust with people who are pretenders because people like that have repeatedly screwed you in life or something?

See what I mean?
i think you mean something like this
