Really puzzled why any of you think it was a deliberate handball, it was clear to see it was accidental.

Gila on the other hand, deliberately stretched his hand to reach the ball and direct it into the goal, way more obvious.

Milan duo believe in title
Tuesday 17 February, 2009

Milan defenders Marek Jankulovski and Kakha Kaladze think their side still have a chance of winning the Scudetto.

The Rossoneri were beaten by Inter in the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday evening. The Nerazzurri won 2-1 thanks to goals from Adriano and Dejan Stankovic.

The defeat leaves Milan in third place, 11 points adrift of leaders Inter with just 14 games remaining in the 2008-09 campaign.

“It’s more difficult, but we’ll keep trying,” Jankulovski told Sky Italia. “There certainly aren’t wonderful sensations that come with losing, even if we deserved to.

“But the humour of the dressing room was good and we’ll keep on going forward,” he said before handing the microphone to Kaladze.

“In football there are many surprises,” Kaladze explained. “There are still games to play. Their advantage is great, but we will continue to fight.”

The Georgian also passed comment on Adriano’s dubious opening goal. The Brazilian headed the ball down on to his hand, it went in and the referee gave it after half an hour.

Adriano is now to be tried by TV and could risk a two-game ban after admitting he used his hand involuntarily.

“It went like this, we didn’t deserve to lose but we have to accept the decisions of the officials and go forward,” Kaladze concluded.

Milan will look to get their title challenge back on track this weekend when they host high-flying giant killers Cagliari at San Siro.

If they did change the rule, that's retarded then. Italian teams are not as strong as before, and it's unfair to qualify the Italians directly. They are just killing other nations' teams this way.
As strange as it sounds, this rule is meant to help the smaller leagues, and indeed it will be very helpful.

The more seeds for direct qualification for major league teams the less seeds for other smaller league teams. for this reason I believe it is not good for them.

Follow me carefully.....

Until now 16 teams qualified directly to CL groups while other 16 teams were doing it through qualifications. Depending on the UEFA Country coefficient the teams that qualified directly came from:

The top placed 6 countries gave 2 teams each directly in CL (that's 12 teams)
Countries placed from 7-10 gave 1 team directly in CL (that's 4 more teams).

The other 16 teams came through qualification and in 99% of the cases these 16 teams were the 3rd and 4th placed teams from Spain, Italy, England, France, Germany or the champions and 2nd placed teams from Portugal, Holland, Turkey etc.

Sometimes not even one single team from the smaller leagues qualified for CL, and in rare cases (like this year), teams from Belarus or Cyprus played in CL.

Now Platini made sure that at least 5 teams from the minor leagues will play in CL.
This is how:

1. Next year 22 teams will play directly in CL. The best three teams from the best three leagues (in this case ENG, ESP and ITA) , the best 2 teams from the leagues ranked 4-6 (in this case GER, FRA and RUS) and the champions of Romania, Scotland, Turkey, Portugal, Holland, Ukraine and Belgium.

The other 10 teams that will play in CL will be given from two different qualifying groups.
In the first "group" called the "Best-Placed Path", the 4th placed teams from Spain, England, Italy, the third placed teams from Germany, France, Russia and the runner-up's from the other strong European leagues will play and in two qualification rounds 5 teams will be left. These 5 teams will go directly in CL.

In the second "group", called Champions' Path, only the teams from the smaller leagues will play, and after 4 qualification rounds there will be 5 winners and these 5 winners will go directly in CL.
In this so called Champions' Path, you won't have teams from the strongest 13 leagues in Europe and only leagues placed in 14 to 52 in UEFA rankings will participate. (in other words, teams from Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Austria, Poland, Slovenia, Cyprus, Estonia, Albania, Sweden, Ireland, Macedonia etc).

So, in any case, there will be 5 teams from the European smaller leagues playing in CL next year.

Get it ?

Clear as mud.

Will it weaken the competition for CL league status though?

How about this for an idea: the top team from all the leagues mentioned are put into a big hat, and one by one picked out and then play each other.
Next round do the same. And do on...

Brilliant.

Kaladze :howler:

every time I see his name I remember all those mistakes he made against Inter.
 He must really miss Dida. Those two were a dynamic duo that made our Grygera-Molinaro combo look like Djalma and Nílton Santos from the '58 Brazil squad.

you know what? go fuck yourself with this attitude. You are an asshole, you are not worth to discuss anything with. If you hate me for having opposite of your idea in some subject, and if you will go on talking like this forever "from high" for that, then I will not waste my time with you anymore.

Pathetic you are, how you take it everything so personal.. The best thing is to put you on ignore list, I am done with these childish arguments ages ago, and I am not going to start again with another person..
