Not so much about serie A as it is about Juve, but i was kinda provoked by Cronios' negative comments in the Molinaro thread so i will reply here instead of going completely off topic there....

On the last 11 serie A matches we managed to win 10 times and lose only once. The goal difference on these matches is 25:7.
The problem are the opening 7 rounds where we won only twice, drew 3 matches and lost 2 of them.

It all started with the Fiorentina match where we had to play without Chiellini, Sissoko, Zebina, Zanetti and Trezeguet. 5 very important players from last season weren't available for this match.
Then one by one we were losing many more players. Buffon and Camoranesi being the most important ones. Newbies like Amauri, Mellberg, Poulsen and Marchisio couldn't gel well, while players who didn't play much for us in the past (Marchionni) were given more minutes.
While we were waiting for the "new team" to gel and the players to get used to eachother, we lost many points.
After a month and a half these players finally found the chemistry and like i said, we won 10 out of 11 matches and we topped our CL group.

Now i need to ask....what if we didn't always have at least 7 injured players and at least 4 very important starters unavailable?
My guess is that we would've topped serie A, with at least 3 more wins than we have today. The good thing is that we're slowly getting the injured players back and Ranieri can put them in the starting XI one by one, without some revolution putting 4 of them in the line-up to replace half the winning team from the last 2 months.

What i wanna tell you dear doc, is that many things were obviously done right. We do have a strong team with many of the players bought by the new management playing some top class football. I'm only sorry that we had so many injuries which isn't just an excuse for not topping the table. Imo, it's the only reason for that. Such a shame really. Because we'd have been first and you'd have been, hopefully, much more positive and much more aware that it was a job well done by Ranieri and the directors.
That is the biggest point imo and where things look a bit more promising in this end of the season. These players gelled very well with the team and assuming they have their eye on the common goal then this team will be very hard to beat. We didn't do very well in the beginning of the season because many of the players didn't get the system like you said but now many of them have proved something at one point or another ( marchionni against Real, marchisio against Milan, Mellberg on several other occasions and same about Tiago).

Now they have the confidence to come in and do their job. Whether that would be enough come the end of the season we will see as you would need someone to step up and make a difference here and there. Sadly atm these players cannot do that. My hope is that those difference makers would be more Trezi, camo, even Iaq and Tiago.

They'll still qualify, Genoa are a man down since 21st minute.
We can only hope that Genoa will somehow hold it for 90 minutes and force Inter to play 120 minutes.

City launch Kaka mission

Despite Silvio Berlusconi's assurances, there are reports that Manchester City have sent their chief executive to Italy to discuss a bid for Kaka.

The Citizens have been tracking Kaka for months and there have been regular rumours linking the wealthy Premier League side with a big-money move.

While Milan patron Berlusconi declared yesterday that Kaka won't be leaving San Siro, there are reports from Sky Sports News that City chief executive Garry Cook has travelled to Milan to begin transfer talks.

Milan have fended off advances from Real Madrid and Chelsea in recent times, but there are suggestions in La Gazzetta dello Sport that City would be able to bid around £90m.

FIFA World Player of the Year 2007 Kaka has always stressed his desire to stay with Milan, but Brazilian national side teammate Robinho has called him to Eastlands.

City's contract offer is also said to be in excess of £9m per season, which would make Kaka the highest earner in world football.

Pazzini set for Sampdoria Wednesday 14 January, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sampdoria are close to completing the permanent signature of Fiorentina striker Giampaolo Pazzini.

Former Under-21 international Pazzini has asked for a change of scene after struggling to secure a first-team place at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Palermo and Bologna were the first sides to express an interest in Pazzini, but the two clubs were priced out of the running.

Now Sampdoria have emerged as favourites for Pazzini's signature and the player has expressed his desire to represent the Blucerchiati.

Fiorentina have reportedly asked for experienced hitman Emiliano Bonazzoli to move in the opposite direction on loan with the right to make the deal permanent in the summer.

A deal may be delayed until Fiorentina are certain that Adrian Mutu's elbow injury isn't too serious, but Pazzini is moving ever closer to Samp.

This thing with Man City and Kaka may be more serious. For the first time in these last years Berlusconi didn't call ti BS and didn't say that Kaka will surely stay with Milan. He said that he hopes Kaka will stay in Milan.

What do you guys think about all this? I'm not so sure anymore if it's a good thing for us or not. Milan won't find someone as good and influental as Kaka to replace him but they can still get, lets say Diego, to replace Kaka and have 70m eur left to strenghten other positions.
Milan are doing awful enough with Kaka in the team and i don't know if it's in our interest something to be changed.
I'd love Kaka to leave Milan but i don't want them to buy "Nedved", "Buffon" and "Thuram" with the money from that sale.

P.S: This is what some Milan fan had to say about this
"there is no chance of this happenin, kaka is a devoted christian he couldnt care less about the figure on his contract. also he loves milan too much to leave!"
:D

I always thought he'd leave Milan so I will not be surprised if something like that happens.

Now,I said I thought he would leave but I'd never guess it would be Manchester City. They are rich as hell and I do think they have the money to buy him and give him sky-high saleries but I just don't know if he'd accept to play for them. They are mid/low table club right now and I highly doubt they are going to reach Champions League so it would be UEFA CUP for him...

They have some crazy plans for the future and I think they are going to end up with Trezeguet as well as I said 1 month ago.

So,it's all up to Kaka and if he wants to play in UEFA cup next year because I don't think he will mind his new team mates.I expect all their future signings to be quality.

Media exaggerate,I don't think this transfer could cost nowhere near 90-100mln euros. They always say something like that but in the end it happens to be much less.I think it can go up to 55mln but not much as for actually transfer. With that money they would probably buy Diego and they would have 30mln euros left.So they will just buy Mexes and one more player? It can be a problem for us.Plus their transfer budget  That's Benzema.

"I want to grow old at Milan," Kaka said.

"My aim is to become, at some point in the future, the captain of this team. "I know there is a pecking order, with (Paolo) Maldini at the front at then (Massimo) Ambrosini, but after that...

"I have already turned down some major offers," he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, Kaka's agent Diogo Kotscho confirmed that talks had taken place between a Manchester City delegation and Milan over a possible deal.

Kotscho told Sky Sports News that he could not rule out his client moving to City in the January transfer window.

"It's not impossible," he said. "But I think it will be very, very difficult to have a deal with Milan."

Kaka, 26, has spoken in the past of his ambition to play in England and if he joined City would link up with Brazilian international teammate Robinho.

City, who are 15th in the 20-team Premier League, were taken over by an Abu Dhabi consortium at the start of the season and have the resources to invest heavily in new players.

England international full back Wayne Bridge signed from Chelsea at the start of the transfer window and manager Mark Hughes has also been pursuing striker Roque Santa Cruz, who played for him at Blackburn.

Ironically, Hughes is not a supporter of the January transfer window and told the Manchester Evening News. "I am sure there were reasons behind bringing in the transfer window in the first place but I cannot fathom what they were.

"Now we get to January and the prices are inflated, expectations are heightened and the media goes crazy. I don't think it is a healthy situation."

so it is a retirement home!
