Average Serie A attendances have gone up by 3,000 per game this season and Milan have the most fans in the stands.

The Lega Calcio confirmed the average attendance for top flight games in the opening 19 matches was 22,504 compared to 19,181 last term.

The figures put together season ticket holders and those who buy individual tickets for the games.

Milan have the best regular attendances with an average of 57,317 at their home games, followed by Inter in the same stadium with 47,639.

Roma on 40,167, newly promoted Napoli with 39,179 at the San Paolo, Fiorentina on 32,107 and Palermo’s 26,310 continue the list.

The Marassi duo of Genoa (23,461) and Sampdoria (21,369) precede Juventus, whose return to Serie A has attracted an average of 20,706 fans.

However, although Juve are only ninth in terms of total attendance, they lead the way when it comes to filling their arena, as the Stadio Olimpico in Turin tends to be 81.59% full.

Catania come second in this list with 79.79% and Torino, who also play their home games at the Olimpico, with 79.93%.

Milan’s 69.09%, Inter’s 57.43% and Roma’s 49.47% averages reflect the size of their stadiums, as both San Siro and the Olimpico in Rome hold over 70,000.

The situation is different in Serie B, who have lost big clubs like Juventus, Napoli and Genoa to promotion.

The average attendance here has precipitated from 8,531 in 2006-07 to just 5,946 so far this season.

Fiorentina ponder Frey swap
Saturday 2 February, 2008

Fiorentina have sensationally admitted that they would consider exchanging Sebastien Frey with Milan striker Alberto Gilardino.

The proposed switch has been reported by various media outlets over the last few months and those reports will gather pace after today’s developments.

After being asked whether the goalkeeper could join the Rossoneri at the end of the season, sporting director Pantaleo Corvino insisted it could happen.

“If the 'keeper came to us with a transfer request then we would not stand in his way,” the Viola official told Rete 37 this afternoon.

“At that point, a swap deal with Milan that would see Gilardino arrive would be a good option for us.”

Milan have been linked with a Frey approach after another set of problematic and costly goalkeeping performances by Nelson Dida this term.

Gilardino too has been associated with a San Siro exit following the arrival of Alexandre Pato and Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli, who worked with him at Parma, knows him well.

However, Fiorentina’s salary cap would pose a problem for the Italian striker who earns £2.5m – double the amount which top wage earners Frey and Adrian Mutu currently net.
--------------------------------------------------

Now why would they do this ?
Milan are in desperate need of a goalkeeper and Fiorentina can sell Frey for 50% higher price than his realistic one. Why would they swap him with Gilardino and ruin the young Pazzini ?

I think this deal is good but just for Milan. They would get rid of Gilardino who is bad form and they would get hell of a GK.But yet , I don`t know why would Viola accept that. They would lose good GK and they would get Gila who needs to get to his old form which would take a while probably and as you said they would just ruin Pazzini. But how knows , Mutu is in great form and I doubt he`ll stay there next season since Roma,Real and more clubs are after him.

This is really a stupid move for La Viola. I don't understand why they'd want Gilardino instead of Frey except for the fact that Prandelli liked him while at Parma.

And I still cannot believe how we gave Mutu away. Jesus, we are fucking retards. :pumpkin:

Congratulations are in order today as Inter and Milan directors were acquitted of accounting fraud for seasons as far back as 2003. Early in 2007 auditors uncovered a web of creative accounting between the two Milan giants that effectively allowed the two sides to successfully register for the Italian top flight. Fictitious sales of the team brand, fake player transfers, and exaggerated player valuations were among the accusations that prosecutor Carlo Nocerino brought to Judge Paola Di Lorenzo in the spring of last year.

Today the trial concluded with the teams being absolved. Judge Paola Di Lorenzo stated today in an official statement that “accounting fraud does not constitute illegal activity”. Had the teams been prosecuted Inter would have lost two titles and Milan one while both would have been relegated to Serie B for wrongful registration.

Someone will now have to explain to Torino and Salernitana fans why their teams were relegated to Serie B and C for not showing adequate financial positions.

Fuck them both. The FIGC didn´t create double standards for Juventus though when we were supposed to be relegated.

I hope Inter and Milan both get nuked.

They are idiots. They already have top talent upfront. And Frey cannot be easily replaced. He isn´t much inferior to Buffon.

Miccoli just scored for Palermo against Livorno:faq2:
And Balzaretti had a great debut for Palermo.
Even though Miccoli will probably be MOM because he scored the match winning goal, it was Balzaretti who should win the MOM award.
I always knew he was very good going forward but today he was also great in defense.
The most active player on the pitch today and it looks like he is the new favourite of Palermo's fans.
