Where did i have a go at any religion? I have muslim friends on the forum & in real life & i can question their beliefs without being condescending or pompous.
It's a serious thread, jbf said homosexuality is a sickness & now he's to afraid to back up his claims & he needs to get reasons from a religious zealot to back up his claims.
Alright then, I see that, but for a moment it seemed to be a joke more than a thread to me, and it seemed to be taking the anti-religion (Islam is a backwards religion as Burke says) direction, I just wanted to know why you started it because from what I know about you on the forum you're a person worthy of respect
Coicidentally I've been reading about that subject in general and specially in Egyptian society, for the last 2 weeks
There are a few theories;
-Mental Illness
-Born-with condition
-Personal choice (for joy only or other reasons)
-Failure of straight love relationships with the other sex creating mental complications
One history fact stopped me and it's worth mentioning
all through history homosexuality was present, it starts with the people of prophet Lot PBUH, but some other opinions say it started before that but became known during his time, and since then they haven't been accepted most of the time, but what's interesting is that during the golden ages of Islamic and Arab civilizations, homosexuals weren't touched by governments (Poet Abu Nawas [year 762] is an example, one or two Amawi Khalifah's as well) they lived freely in society like others, while on the other hand in Europe at the same times, they were in dark ages prosecuting homosexuals and any woman who knows latin (any sign of being a witch), and until the early 20th century with homosexuals
Right now it's the exact opposite between civilizations, but that doesn't make it a sign of being civilized, it's a sign that the people and governments are giving more care to serious issues and leaving shallow ones as personal choices, so it's pretty normal now in Arab countries to see people discussin homosexuality, sex and Atheism a lot and with passion but giving much less care to politics, education and democracy
back to the point, I personally don't know why a person becomes homo, when does it start, and could it be treated?
but I think they shouldn't be mistreated nor being praised (as in supporting gay pride parades and stuff), I believe in personal freedom as long as you don't hurt community
I
could tolerate a homosexual but it doesn't mean I accept it, I admit that I find it to be very disgusting, and I think any straight person does, (right?)
but as long as a homosexual person keeps his homosexuality to his partner, I don't think he should be treated different than others
and btw, in Islam whether it's homosexuality, or having sex with someone other than the wife/husband (and almost all sins), you don't get punished in this life except in 2 cases
1. 4 people (known of honesty) actually see you and tell a judge on you (never happens, of course)
2. You admit it yourself and ask for punishment to clean yourself
so please (burke) stop talking bad about Islam without knowing it well.
and finally, another fact I noticed, the difference between the number of partners a person had between a straight and a homosexual one is very high, much higher in homosexuals, like it's never satisfying so they keep changing (this is from a study) and the goal of all homosexual relationships is only joy or comfort, while most of straight relationships are for making a family
so this is all I wanted to say, Byrone

hope I didn't give you a headache!
