    what does (-0.5ah) mean?
    AH = Asian Handicap.
So in this case it's Milan starting at -1/2 a goal which is exactly the same as a normal bet on Milan winning. The reason I took this bet is because it is marginally bigger than the Milan price on the 1X2 market. Even though it has the same winning outcome markets are priced differently; 1X2 markets have three outcomes but asian handicaps have only two outcomes.

Hang on I'm going to find a good definition of handicaps from a bookmaker and post it in here next.

    Taken from Gamebookers:

    Handicap / Run Line
One team is given a head start of a particular number of goals/points, the opponent will be handicapped by the same number of goals/points. The outcome of the bet is obtained by adding the handicap to the final result of the team without handicap. Handicap betting could be particularly interesting when one contestant is regarded as much stronger. The handicap will equalise the contestants and give the opportunity to get a better price on a clear favourite or increase the chance to win on the normally weaker team.

    Example:
Manchester v Arsenal - Handicap 0:1 (Arsenal has a 1 goal head start)
    Full-time score: 2 - 1
Handicap result: 2 - 2 (we add 1 goal for Arsenal)
The result of the handicap bet is a draw even though Manchester won the game.

    Asian Handicap
Asian Handicap bets are a special type of Handicap bets for soccer. Please ensure that you familiarised yourself with Handicap bets as Asian Handicap bets work exactly in the same way. The simple difference between Handicap and Asian Handicap bets is that Handicap bets allow for a draw outcome while Asian Handicap bets do not allow for a draw. Should the game draw after the handicap is added, all bets are cancelled and stakes refunded.

Example I - 0 or 1 goal handicap (draw option possible):
Manchester v Arsenal - Asian 0:1 (Arsenal has a 1 goal head start)
    Full-time score: 2 - 1
Asian Handicap result: 2 - 2 (we add 1 goal for Arsenal)
The result of the Asian handicap bet is a draw - all stakes get refunded.

Example II - ½ or 1½ goal handicap (draw option not possible):
Manchester v Arsenal - Asian 0:1/2 (Arsenal has a 1/2 goal head start)
    Full-time score: 1 - 1
Asian Handicap result: 1 - 1.5 (we add 0.5 goals for Arsenal)
Arsenal wins the Asian Handicap bet even though the match was actually a draw.

But even that could prove to be quite hard to understand. :p
But betting is not supposed to be easy. :D

So the bets I've taken today:
    AEK v AC MILAN(-0.5AH): 20.00 @ 2.05 (Bet365)
    R.MADRID(-0.5AH) v Lyon: 20.00 @ 2.05 (Bet365)
    ARSENAL(-1.5AH) v Hamburg: 20.00 @ 1.68 (Gamebookers)

    Are really:
    1) Milan to win
    2) Real Madrid to win
    3) Arsenal to win by 2 goals or more

Asian Handicaps are difficult to understand at first but are probably more profitable to bet on as unlike 1X2 (home, draw, away) markets where there are three outcomes. So in theory, at a good bookmaker that offers asian handicaps they can make the line so ANY match-up can be made attractive.

    So last week there was:
    Rep. of Ireland(-4.5AH) v San Marino @ 1.80

This was Ireland to win by 5 goals or more. They did indeed win 5-0 so covered the handicap. The odds on Ireland to win were something like 1.02.

Often as the bookmaker attempts to balance the outcome of both sides - so that they profit regardless the result. The line fluctuates so taking it early or later if you have a strong idea of the outcome is where some punters excel.

    ..

I still dont get whats the difference with the -0.5ah, since the odds are the same as the match odds itself. Anyho, I just made one Asian Handicap bet for the fuck of it just see how it goes..

    Ac Milan (-0.5ah) 20 pounds @ 2.06
Celtic Vs ManU (over 1.5 goals) 20 pounds @ 1.44

I've edited the first post and thread title so any members who want to post or discuss bets can do so here - if not; then this thread can just come to it's natural death. :D

Be lucky and I'll try and post more in the football threads here. :pint:

Those are dodgy games. I certainly wouldn't bet on any of them, well, maybe Palermo...

all of them risky but great odds out there.. I put them from less risky to riskier by order, Atalanta should win that!!

Edit: If he play them all seperatly with the same amount each, he will have his money back plus change if two of them work at least :D

Like I said, even two of the games would work, 4.05 against 4.0.. not much risk taken with no loss..
