Italy have a genuinely world class midfield now. Jorginho, Barella, Verratti, Sensi, Zaniolo and Tonali (with Castrovilli waiting in the wings) is an insane amount of talent for Mancini to choose from. Compared to the Parolo - Sturaro - Giaccherini midfield Conte started against Germany at euro 2016 its quite an upgrade

Also the defence is rock solid too. It’s just at #9 where the biggest problems are. Immobile sucks at international level and whilst I really like Belotti, he isn’t anywhere near a world class #9 like Kane, Lewandowski, Mbappe (if played there)

And i wouldn’t put the Donnarumma rumors far apart from those either, especially as long as Raiola is involved and Milan keeps on flirting with mediocrity.

This is true, but being another young Italian national with superstar potential we really can’t afford to let him go. This is the typE of player who might stay here and lead our midfield for a decade. We’ve missed out on too many young Italian CMs.
