the same crap team that hands the US the same free pass every 4 years, then maybe its concacaf we need to re-evaluate, maybe they should just play with south america
Whatever. Who cares. I know lots of people would looooove to see the US not make the Cup, and who gives a care, just ban North American teams from the sport. They all suck anyway and don't deserve representation in the world's game.

Well yeah, it sure is weird to do so bad and still go to the world cup, but quality wise there is no doubt imo that South America deserves 5 spots.

It's CONCACAF that has too many spots imo, compared to the quality of the teams there (Asia too). In theory both Concacaf and South America can have 4 teams at the World Cup, while in reality the difference is huge between the South American and the Concacaf teams.
Alen, it's like you're talking to five year olds here.

i didnt say that, he s complaining about the weaknesses of teams in concacaf, which is an obvious advantage to the us and mexico, in determining a 5th spot for south Am. So you either accept altogether or reject it all together you cant be ok when its only advantageous.

And no i am not an abiceleste fan, i have a soft spot for all boca players and want to see them do well.
As for those who want argentina out, i cant understand how you d want them to falter. you d rather watch an ecuador-england over a messi-ful argentina-england?
Why would I want them to falter?

Well, that's pretty easy. They have a bunch of gloryhunting fans and annoying players.

IMO, I think everyone should want them out. Not because of what I just said, but because it offers the path of least resistance.

Yes, my mistake on them going into 5th with the draw, I haven't been paying much attention to South American qualifying recently. No, I would rather watch Argentina-England, I am not angry that Argentina are qualifying for the world cup, I just don't think South America should be able to send five teams through to every world cup. I admit I am biased here because my United States may be top of the group but there is a fair chance that they could end up fourth in the group and it would feel like a robbery if we got knocked out by Argentina

I have no qualms with the way it's setup, but people act like they want to ruin the Cup all together. From some opinions, it's like we should ban Asia all together from participating, because, you know, they will never win shit in the tournament. All that matters is success, not where you're from.

As such, the US should be banned from FIFA since we're not only poor footballers, but because there is no such thing as American blood.

I am not complaining about the strength of CONCACAF teams I'm complaining about how the 5th spot in South America doesn't just get knocked out

That is basically what the argument boils down to, whether stated or not. People always find fantastic reasons to screw over CONCACAF.

Coupled with the fact I can't even see my own match tonight, this stuff brings out my sarcastic posts.

all players cheat, but to say diego won the world cup by cheating is sordidly dumb

lesson 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh1HlntQzeI
All players have at one point in their career cheated in some way big or small but to use "all players cheat" in defense of the hand of god goal is stupid.

In 1986 Maradona as an individual contributed more to winning that world cup than any single player has for any world cup winning team so far, he may have been the greatest football player ever and he did far more for Argentina than just that one ugly incident, but without that goal Argentina might not have beaten England and to win a world cup you have to make it to the final. I do not dislike Maradona but that goal is a horrible blight in football history and it disgusts me. Not that there aren't other equally shameless yet less famous acts, but "other people do it too" is not an excuse. For as remarkably good as Maradona he was equally as shameless
