Italians always had top quality, especially the generation that won the WC was full of great players. But they never played entertaining football that attracts the majority of fans. They always played on result, which is more than ok, but lets not fool ourselves and say that they played good for the eye.
The Azzurri edition of WC2006 was pretty darn entertaining if you ask me.

Who would have thought, Italy playing boring and not winning with this highly unstoppable quality force that is their current lineup?

This is a reasonable comment. Supporters will focus on beautiful moments, while neutrals and haters will note that there are a lot of low scoring games, punctuated by moments of brilliance. Italy has always been about tactical efficiency, which is something that I appreciate quite a bit.

Ireland is just dominating right now.

It depends Alen, I actually like watching defensive teams.
Italy has always been incredibly in defence and they built everything from there.
Maybe its because I play basketball that I enjoy defending, I think that it's art.

I know you were...

But you were also asking when Del Piero's Italy was, and I was just stating that he was an important part of a fairly successful generation of Italian football.

Fucking hell, Ireland equalizes. Damn you Keane... this was coming for awhile though.
No I wasn't asking when Del Piero's Italy was, I was asking when was Del Piero's Italy playing entertaining football.

FT in Bari 1:1

Italians were lucky at the end, very lucky. But the Irish had an one man advantage for 90 minutes and maybe they were the lucky ones.

Yet you bash the defensive approach of Ranieri

Alright then JCK, a simple misunderstanding. Debatable, but again, it's all relative to a supporters love of their team, and preferred style of play; gotta love relativity.

Definitely nice to get out with a draw, considering the pressure at the end.

I won't remind all those who claimed that Italy are still a top side.

My god the future of Italy looks nearly ad bleak as France's.
This is hilarious to me.

The French squad is one in transition, being reconstructed FOR the future. If they remove that ass Domenech, things will get better in a hurry.

If you look at the Italian NT, there are a bunch of players about to break into the squad. If you look at the Azzurrini, they are undeniably one of the top squads in Europe. Both these teams have a rich future ahead; it just may not be in time to produce the top quality results at WC 2010. Only time will tell.
