Any idea why Ricardo wasn't selected?
He's been out of the NT for a while. And probably a good thing too. His club play has been dicey for years... so much so it surprised many that he showed up as the Portugal #1 in Euro 2008. And Quim has been inconsistent too. I think the NT has wisely decided to look to the next generation now for a GK.

So it's bizarre to see them play an NT goalie who isn't one of the Porto/Lisbon holy trinity of clubs (Eduardo plays for Braga, I believe). He had an OK match -- but twice came out of goal when he had no business there, and had no shot at the ball. Always a bad thing.

I expect the Belgian coach to be sacked one of these days. He left out four or five of our best players, didn't say why, and lost 2-4 to a Bosnia side who are far less talented. I'm not saying we have a great team, but if you don't play your best team in a game you have to win, you're a moron. Even the players were mad. It has been a while since I have seen such a madman in charge of a NT.
Based on which standards are Dzeko, Ibisevic, Misimovic and Salihovic far less talented than the Belgian players?

The Bosnians are at least 3 times more talented technically than your players Seven. I thought it was obvious after this match. I'm yet to see a Belgian player with Misimovic's technique (the number 10 who scored the 4th goal).

Well, yes, because we didn't play our best players. That's the whole point. I'm the first to say that if we play our second squad against Bosnia, we will be slaughtered. And that's exactly what our coach did. Even with all the injuries, he still didn't choose to play our best players. Vanden Borre didn't feature and neither did Witsel.

Alen, I know I look like a fool here, but I have never really supported the Belgian NT as I knew they sucked. I'm surprisingly objective here. And Bosnia is nowhere near Belgium in terms of sheer talent. But if we're going to play our 2nd team, then yes, they will slaughter us.

Interesting, I always thought he played well for the national team though. Some players just perform better for the country or better for the club side.

Thank God for Isaksson though, he saved our ass today.

Overall, yes. The young Belgian generation is quality and has more potential than the Bosnians. But talking about pure talent, like dribbling, ball control etc, then the Bosnians are few levels above your guys.

I have to say I disagree. That's exactly why our young generation is so good. It's not just about power anymore. But with this coach, we will always lose. The Bosnians played sensible football tonight and deserved the win. But it angers me that our coach did not want to win, but wanted to look good himself. He didn't care about the game, he cared about himself.

For anyone interested in a late night football match, we are playing El Salvador away tonight in a qualifier. Perhaps my boy Freddy Adu and Jozy Altidore will play tonight, along with a couple other good young players.

Yep. And he's one. Call him Portugal's Milan Baros.

Portugal's attack was anemic, though. He wasn't that essential.

While i agree the Bosnians in terms of technical ability are better than the Belgians. I don't think the difference is that high. You're underestimating this new generation of Belgian players. They're all about pace, technique and movement. Mirallas, Dembele and Hazard are all a testimony of how talented this new patch of Belgian players are.

Misimovic is on a different level though, his only drawback is his lack of pace. But he's one heck of a skillful player, got an eye for the pass too. Haven't seen him play for a long time, ever since he left Bochum actually.

Actually Bosnia also didn't field nowhere near our strongest team, wa are suffering from too many injuries and some our key players didn't played tonight. Even though we have too many problems in our FA, I think that many people don't have a clue about our real potential.

And Dzeko is really becoming a beast, tall, solid technique, pretty mobile and plus he is still very young, we gonna se some great thing from him

Alen mentioned some time ago that a lot of Croatia's players were of Bosnian origin. I just can't remember who he said were Bosnian. I think Corluka was one of them though. Who were the others?

By Bosnian origin i mean Croats from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I know you know this, but not to have any misunderstandings, Croats, Serbs and Bosnian Muslims live in Bosnia. Those Bosnians who play for Croatia are Croats from Bosnia (not Bosnian Muslims or Serbs).

Corluka and Petric are Croats born in Bosnia.
Ivan Klasnic, Niko and Robert Kovac are Bosnian Croats but they are born in Germany.
Simunic is a Bosnian Croat but born in Australia.
Rakitic is a Bosnian Croat born in Switzerland.

As you can see, those from the western countries are mostly the Croats from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Also you can find theese kind od examples in Serbian NT, however I don't blame players, I blame our country, FA and politics. It's frustating sometimes to see some of the best players playing for other nations, but we hardly can do anything and that is most annoying thing.

Theese things aren't only in football and we can took an example of Croatian tennis player Cilic who at the beginning was talented Bosnian, but Croatia gave him everything and made him player that he is now, and I'm 100% sure that wouldn't be nowhere good as he is now if he continued to play under Bosnian flag.

To sum things up, Croatia and Serbia have good scouting system, more prestige than Bosnia and most important thing money to invest into sports and that is maybe the biggest reason why some players are choosing other countries instead of us (Bosnia).

    Anyone watching Brazil right now?

I can't for the life of me, understand how Gilberto Silva and Fabiano are starters for the Brazilian NT. Also players like Aurelio and Amauri should really be called up.
