Barzagli is very good one on one when the ball is on the ground but he has the worst positioning i've seen from an Italian defender when a long ball is sent. His players always manage to run away from him and get to the ball first.
Air duels are another big weakness of Barzagli.

Obviously you didnt watch the Morroco game, it was a game where Domenech didnt play with his first team...it was an experimental game for Domenech. So no Anelka is ahead of Benzema in the pecking order

The Ukraine game iirc, was also the same case, i'm not too sure about this one though, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, but i think he rested quite a few players in this one too.

Buffon 7.5 - He pulled some fantastic saves , could do absolutely nothing to save Villa's brilliant strike .

Cannavaro 7 - He was very solid throughout the game , could have done better to clear the cross that lead to the goal .

Materazzi 6- he had a good first half with very little mistakes . I didn't like that tackle on Villa , it was obvious he was still very bitter after the C.L exit .

Pannuci 4 - HE shouldn't start , should have done much better from De Ross's Free kick .

Grosso 6.5 - Good game by him . Dangerous going forward and also did well in defense .

De Rossi 6.5 - A bad first half but more than made up for it in the second . Showed real quality .

Camo 8 - Best Azzurri player of the night . HE was unlucky not to score . He is also a warrior in midfield .

Pirlo 6 - He was ok but far from the Pirlo that lead Italy to the world cup .

Perrotta 5.5 - He was very quiet in the first half and didn't impress too much in the second .

Di Natale 5 - disappointing performance by him , I expected a lot more from him on the left wing .

Toni 5 - Did nothing to trouble the Spanish defense but in his defense , he received no service .

Borriello 6 - I liked him , he was strong and did well to shield the ball . He did better than Toni overall .

Iaquinta 5 - He didn't really get into the game .

Aquilani 5.5- He had some nice tackles in midfield but wasn't too impressive .

Gattusso 5.5 - He covered well but is far from the Gattusso that dominated the midfield a while back .

Barzagli 6 - He did well in taking on Villa but is very inexperienced whe it comes to marking .

Zambrotta 5.5 - He madea couple of good tackles but added little on the right side .

Terrible performance. This game just proves how stupid donadoni is. He doesn't start players based on form, he just sticks with the same old players and the same old formation. Barzagli is trash. How or why he was called up is beyond me. Canna was the only defender actually playing today. Chiellni is probably the best italian defender right now and where was he? Sitting at home with DP watching the game on tv.....
