Can you imagine Mancini sitting at home, then hearing the news and opening a bottle of champagne, singing 'Campione, Campione'??

How sad can you be, and what a hollow Scudetto - awarded because of an unacceptable sentence when Juve the club didnt do anything wrong.

Well done Inter - but deep down you know its ours

Let them have it. It doesn't mean anything anyway. They weren't the best team and that is plain to see for everybody.

As for next season it won't mean anything. The eventual winners will not have to play the strongest team in Italy.

Inter proud to be champs Thursday 27 July, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inter are today celebrating their first Scudetto since 1989 with Nerazzurri players eager to express their joy for what they consider as a well-deserved success.

Owner Massimo Moratti and President Giacinto Facchetti had already stated their satisfaction on Wednesday evening, unanimously rejecting the idea that the title was a present after the Calciopoli verdicts.

“This was not a gift, we have always played fair and this is the prize we deserve for our behaviour,” said Moratti in an interview with daily newspaper La Stampa.

“We are proud of the title and see no reason whatsoever not to wear the Scudetto next season.”

Moratti has thus confirmed that the famous tricolore shield will be added to the club’s jerseys for the 2006-07 campaign after Juventus and Milan were penalised for sporting fraud.

Italian World Cup winner Marco Materazzi was also enthusiastic about the club’s belated triumph.

“I want to wear the Scudetto, Coppa Italia and World Cup symbols all together on my jersey,” he said. “And I would wear them with pride.”

Captain Javier Zanetti joined his teammate in celebrating Inter’s 14th title after years of disappointment at the San Siro.

“We are all very happy and believe we deserve this,” stated the Argentine. “This club has always shown its real value, all around the world, and we are proud of being part of it.”

Sinisa Mihajlovic, Mancini’s assistant and a former Inter player, shared his fellow team members’ opinions, but was also very critical of the clubs involved in the scandal.

“Awarding Inter the title was the right thing to do, we deserved it and fought for it on the pitch,” said the ex-Lazio, Roma and Sampdoria star.

“The appeal verdict confirmed that some teams did not play fair in the past years and that explains why Inter wasn’t able to win any important trophy,” added former defender.

No official celebrations are being planned for the event, but Moratti insists that fact should not be misinterpreted.

“There is nothing to feel ashamed of, but only many reasons to feel proud of this achievement,” the oil tycoon concluded.

:howler: What a jackass! So i suppose that he & has former lazio team mates also cheated to win the scudetto.

What a complete embarrasment for Italy this man is.

instead of the italian logo representing the Italian champs they should have the Argentinian flag instead.
