Medical Bulletin

For the away trip to Napoli, Didier Deschamps has been unable to call-up the players who picked up injuries against Brescia on Wednesday; that’s Boumsong, Kovac and Marchionni, along with Trezeguet who, after the game, felt the effects of muscle ache in his left thigh. The Frenchman carried out tests in training this morning, but the results were not positive and he will be unable to make the trip.

any latest news on injured players???
Following the away trip to Napoli and ahead of Saturday’s home game with Pescara, here is the latest on the injured players:

Legrottaglie: suffered an anterior dislocation of his left shoulder. He will undergo an orthopedic visit from Professor Quaglia and an MRI scan by Doctor Faletti, before a choice is made on what action to take: the instalment of a sling and physiotherapy, or surgery. In both cases, there will be a prolonged recovery time and the player will not be back in action before Christmas at the least.

Kovac – who has recovered from the bruising to his left thigh – Nedved – who is recovering from tracheobronchitis - and Trezeguet – who is recovering from a muscular problem – should all be available for the game against Pescara.

Boumsong and Marchionni, though their condition is improving, are still not certainties for Saturday.

Giannichedda continues with treatment for the strain to his left knee. He will be back with the squad from next week onwards.

    Juve shoulder Legrottaglie loss

Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie will be sidelined for two months after injuring his shoulder in Monday’s match with Napoli.

The 30-year-old suffered an anterior dislocation of his left shoulder and will undergo an orthopaedic visit and a scan, which will assess the seriousness of the injury before deciding what action to take next.

As Legrottaglie has not suffered a similar problem in the past it seems likely that he will not need to undergo surgery, as the instalment of a sling and physiotherapy should be sufficient.

Nevertheless, the former Chievo and Italy stopper will need time to recover completely and will not be back in action until the New Year.

There is good news for Coach Didier Deschamps though as a host of men who missed the 1-1 draw at the San Paolo should be available for the Pescara tie in Turin on Saturday.

Robert Kovac is ready to play, while Pavel Nedved and David Trezeguet have both recovered from the bronchitis and muscular problems that kept them out of the last game.

Jean-Alain Boumsong and Marco Marchionni are also on the road to recovery even if it is uncertain whether they will be available for selection.

Meanwhile, Giuliano Giannichedda is continuing treatment for the strain to his left knee and will be back training with the squad.

According to Datasport, Zalayeta is also injured (His left knee), and he will have to leave the trainings for more than 20 days...

I know he is not a critical player, but why do our players fall like autumn leaves??

according to the official website he twisted his knee during the Napoli game, 15-20 days

After dislocating his left shoulder against Napoli, Nicola Legrottaglie underwent surgery this morning at Turin’s Fornaca clinic. The operation was carried out by Professors Flavio Quaglia, Roberto Ravera and Carlo Viglino. Recovery time is expected to be around 90 days.

After twisting his left knee against Napoli, Marcelo Zalayeta will be out for around 15/20 days, after which he will be able to return to training.

Yeah, indeed, we were strucked with injuries.

I guess it´s that time of a year.

It is good these are only minor injuries, only Legrottaglie will have to rest almost 2 months.

Rebel, Serie B is tough, I would presume.

Medical tests on Monday confirmed that Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero will be out of action for three weeks.

The Italy international left the field after 23 minutes of Saturday’s clash with Pescara at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin suffering from a muscular problem in his left thigh.

The scan confirmed the extent of the damage and the world champion will need to rest for three weeks before he can return to training with the rest of the squad.

The player will now undergo therapy to cure his thigh and will also take advantage of the stop to treat his Achilles tendon, which has been bothering him lately.

Del Piero was happy to learn that he might be back in action before the end of the year, if all goes well.

“I am not that disappointed – the medical tests confirmed my first impressions. Now it is important not to be in a hurry to recover, I must take my time,” said the No 10.

Elongation of the flexors for Trezeguet
David Trezeguet strained the flexor muscles in his left thigh during the match with Pescara. As with Del Piero, he too will be sidelined for two to three weeks.

:agree: The only veteran left in the front line is Nedved. Now Boji, Palladino & Guzman are going to have to get us through the next 3 weeks.
