As shoppers in Delhi were winding up their Diwali shopping, blasts rocked three of the busiest markets in the city on Saturday evening.

The first explosion occurred in Paharganj market at 1740 IST when it was choc-a-bloc with busy Diwali shoppers, killing seven persons and injuring over 60.

Minutes later, explosions rocked the Sarojini Nagar Market and Govindpuri area of Okhla in South Delhi.

The blasts are suspected to be the handiwork of banned Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Toiba outfit.

An alert was sounded in the capital with the police chief asking people to be vigilant.

Just found out on the news a couple of hours ago. The images were so disturbing, the news channels were apologising for having to show the same.

Why do we as a species keep resorting to violence to solve everything?  Our thoughts go out to the people affected by this.

Any Idea who may be responsible for this??

Does it have something to do with Indian-Pakistani relations??

This is simply awful. One step forward for human decency ruined by three steps back of human savagery

It's unbelievable to what great lengths the human mind can stoop. They targetted the city's busiest markets, and chose the locations that are most frequented by women and children.

No punishment will be good enough for such scum.

Indian-Pakistani relations have been on the mend for a long time now. However, that doesn't stop the infiltration and terrorist groups from doing their bit to try and adversely affect these relations.

This however, could make things a little uncomfortable, given that the attacks have been primarily targetted on women and children, happened around a major festival; Diwali, and most importantly on the back of Indian aid to Pakistan after the earthquake.

That was a different scenario. Sikh extremists had objected to a movie that hurt their religous sentiments and ravaged cinema halls showing it.

This is totally different. This is terrorism. And I dont think it would be too difficult to nab the group behind this, because just like every news channel and intelligence agency, I'd be suspecting the Lashkar-e-Toiba. Bastards.

Bosnian police arrested 2 men suspected of planning a suicide attack in Sarajevo last week. One was a Swedish and the other a Turkish citizen, who were, it seems, a part of a radical islam terrorist cell, whether it was Al Quaeda is still unknown, the police here arent saying anything. Apparantly the police found 30 kilograms of explosives and a suicide vest in one of the appartements the suspects used In sarajevo, as well as a video tape showing 3 masked men praying to Allah and saying goodbye to their loved ones.

It's suspected that they planned to attack one of the Western countries' embassys. 4 men were also arrested in Denmark after tips by the Bosnian police.

It seems that terrorism is coming here as well.

it seems nothing can stop these savages from causing pain and suffering to aanyone who does not agree with their politics. i am not targetting this at anyone in particular,we had the same in britain with the IRA bombings before the rescent wave of terrorism

could the shiv sena be responsible?
ive heard they're against anything that assists pakistan.
so maybe they got fueled at the help india was offering to pakistan.

i guess these bombings will put the opening of the LOC in major doubt again.

sometimes the only way to peace is war. like if two friends have beef, the only way they can settle it is to beat the crap our of each other til theyre ready to talk about it. and sometimes they end up better friends.

I'd expect more sense from you Axl. Both you and Ze, seem to be suggesting Indian groups behind this without actually admitting where the real problem lies. Is it actually that hard for you to admit the involvement of the Lashkar-e-Toiba, which we both know is made up of Islamic extremists that have issues with Kashmir and with India in general. Is it that hard to actually go back 3 years in time and remember how Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were killed for attacking the red fort? Is it that hard for you to remember the bombings in Mumbai, in August of 2003, which had the Lashkar-e-Toiba claiming responsibility. It's a shame that you perhaps, know as well as anybody in India and Pakistan that it could be this atrocious Pakistani based terrorist group, and yet, you suggest the Shiv Sena, a political party governing Maharashtra would kill their own innocent countrymen.
