Because he was tired of being called a racist. Instead of repeatedly denying the accusations he decided to play along with the charges and get banned due to racist comments. Burke didn't care if he was banned or not, infact I think he wanted to be banned from the start of the whole ordeal, so there you have it. "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."

Burke only registered in the first place to stir up trouble and for the longest time he didn't succeed very much at it. The reason he wasn't already banned a long time ago is that he was relatively harmless despite his best efforts. So since being clever didn't work out for him, he stopped trying and just resorted to what he knew would get him banned.
In any case I don't see how Emma has anything to do with this. They are like night and day, Emma is both clever and classy.
