to make a long story short, the Triade proposed a new contract to Del Piero, untill 2010. They speak of 5Million Euro/season
Apparently, there is also a clause in the contract that would offer Alex a prominent role in the club once he'll stop playing.

New deal for Del Piero?
Tuesday 3 January, 2006
Juventus are ready to offer Alessandro Del Piero a new contract, according to whispers in the peninsula.

The club are intent on keeping the symbol until he hangs up his boots by offering him a deal which will see him take on a directorship position once he does retire.

Although Del Piero is no longer guaranteed a starting shirt in Turin, the Old Lady are prepared to offer him an extension until 2010.

Reports in Italy suggest that the club’s triad of Luciano Moggi, Antonio Giraudo and Roberto Bettega came up with the plan.

The move would be seen by many as reward for a player who has won 14 major honours since his move from Padova in 1993.

Del Piero, who has been recently linked with a shock move to Arsenal, may be tempted by the proposal seeing as his present deal runs until 2008.

The opportunity to remain at a club who adore him would also be a major factor for the now 31-year-old.

Del Piero has also recently installed himself in the club’s history books by joining Giampiero Boniperti as the outfit’s record scorer with 182 goals.

Should Del Piero accept, there is talk that he could become the outfit’s Vice-President along with Roberto Bettega when he does bring his illustrious career to an end.

I agree that capello let dp play too late in palermo match , but one thing i hate about dp is he SO SLOW , i thought i see the match in slow motion , if dp work on his speed , i am sure that he would be a better player

Yep, he's not fast but I would've still preferred to see him earlier on the pitch. Maybe against Fiorentina he'll be in the starting line-up? I hope so. :agree:

Del Piero is fast, he just knows how to time the runs, so he doesn't run for nothing, only when he knows he'll be able to intercept the ball with the run (like head it in, or that match in the nt when he run from the halfway line) or when he can pass all the players, like vs messina etc. The thing is he always had some good accelration but not just pointless running. In 1998 he was also fast like martins in some ways if you remember some matches, like the goal vs sampdoria. Trezeguet is slow too, I don't see people complain, they both have good accelartion which what counts :)

Even Azzurri7 would tell you that DP is not fast. And the way you said it, you made him look more lazy than not fast, which is way worse.

although he played 5 minutes in palermo match , if anyone remmember in the final minutes of the games dp has the ball and only one player to beat to reach the keeper , if he was fast , he could easily go past him instead he was very slow and fell on the ground.

Del Piero is not a fast player.. He is like Zidane, not fast but damn skilled.

Del Piero should've came in earlier. I believe if he did Juve would've scored another goal.

Juventus: Capello `striglia` Del Piero
Sab 07 Gen, 9:58 PM

Merita i Mondiali` .

Del Piero made an immidiate impact and played well under those few minutes Capello gave him. But could he continue playing well under the whole game? Who knows when we so rarely get to see him. I would like to see him play atleast 45 minutes against Viola so we would know better.
