Del Piero is fast, he just knows how to time the runs, so he doesn't run for nothing, only when he knows he'll be able to intercept the ball with the run (like head it in, or that match in the nt when he run from the halfway line) or when he can pass all the players, like vs messina etc. The thing is he always had some good accelration but not just pointless running. In 1998 he was also fast like martins in some ways if you remember some matches, like the goal vs sampdoria. Trezeguet is slow too, I don't see people complain, they both have good accelartion which what counts
