I think Ale told how he saw it. Saying it's a PK and that Buffon shouldn't have intervened isn't betrayal.

No disrespect, I think it's having distortions to think he was saying that for other means

And obviously he's going to be uncomfortable disagreeing with Buffon.

I get that some are angry and I was yesterday. However you should look at yourselves and behave

Good see soemone with a nuanced view of this. Del Piero said nothing wrong and questioning his motive is straight up stupid and neurotic.

Wow at this thread.

Ale should shut the fuck up :howler:

It's not the first time he's said something like this. And I'm not sure there is a real motive behind it anyway. But you can see he's just morphing into one of those ever diplomatic analists. It adds nothing.

If you want to be diplomatic you always can dodge the question and talk about something else. It's not hard. Ale fucked this up.
Obviously he gets a pass since he's Ale.

I'm glad he wasn't diplomatic. He's the only Juventino that acted with class.

Everything he said was right:

“When Gigi spoke about the referee… I found it hard to understand, honestly,” a visibly uncomfortable Del Piero said on Sky.

“I don’t understand why we should refer to the first leg, that’s how football is and you analyse the moment, whether it’s nice or ugly.

“I think in a few days he’ll say different things about the referee than what he said.”

Because the first leg determines the end result just as much as the second leg. I mean.. How can you even think that it's not relevant?

Even if he's right, as THE LEGEND of a club you have to have your team's back. If you find it difficult to do so then it's better to remain silent.
But I don't think he's right about first leg. If you suffer from poor refereeing you have to speak out. This is not a league with 38 matches, where you're given chance after chance to make up for an injustice.
And please don't compare this to usual cries of our Serie A rivals. Roma players were crying on week 6! Goal di Munatri happened in February. I'm not even sure what Napoli always cries about.

This. Everyone was angry yesterday and I still believe we were robbed (a 50-50 call that went in their favor in the final 30 seconds only because they were Real Madrid). But to talk about the first leg that was officiated by another referee is absurd, and what Buffon said after the game was also wrong, which I didn't like even yesterday when I was extremely frustrated myself.

Speaking up is different from the things Buffon said though.

I was talking strictly about 1st leg comments. Did Buffon talk about first leg? I thought Agnelli did.
I can't support Buffon's insults either.

I disagree completely. All Real Madrid and Barcelona games are officiated by different refs. That's what makes it even more infuriating. You can't sit back and say there's no connection between these games. If teams are consistently robbed of fair calls when playing Madrid, the conclusion is obvious really.

I do agree with saying that Gigi's words were too harsh. That's the kind of language you reserve for someone like Moreno (2002). Someone who doesn't just buckle under pressure, but deliberately makes the wrong call. I believe Oliver just lacked the quality to stand firm yesterday.

Not sure about Buffon, but Allegri talked about the first leg also. If you want to complain about THIS ref, mentioning the previous game that was officiated by another ref makes no sense. That's why I agree with what Alex says about the first leg being irrelevant when complaining about Oliver. But what Buffon said was very childish and too uncharacteristic to be honest.

Yeah I totally get that. I've felt that way since what Ovrebo did in the Chelsea-Barca game. I also remember how van Persie was sent off against Barca (that would have never happened to a Barca/Real player), the penalty we didn't get against Barca in the final, and what happened to Bayern last year at Bernabeu. It has been a part of the CL for many years now. Refs tend to favor these two in a way no other team would be favored, most likely because the pressure to make calls against them is much more than the other way around. Nothing can be done about it until their dominance is over (which will be soon).

Dont forget Saurez's comical dive at PSG

Yup. There's no grand conspiracy behind all this. There might be in not allowing VAR or assigning poor refs (really Cakir, again?), but in the end I believe it's the refs succumbing to the pressure.

When you're talking about first leg you are obviously not talking only about this ref. Oliver was an idiot throwing himself into the center of attention like that but the issue is bigger than him. We had 3 red cards in past 3 matches against Madrid, and every one of them was dubious. That Dybala red card was followed swiftly by their 3rd goal, and then we were denied a penalty at the end. What did Real get? protection for countless Ronaldo dives and a dubious penalty at the last 20 seconds.
So Ale saying "this is football" is BS.

Yeah, that is some of the most retarded shit you can say. It really is what Blatter and Platini would say. Refereeing errors are not just part of the game. Especially not when they consistently favour one or two teams.
