:)

I just say that you want to see Ale starts at least in this stupid friendly, where you, JCK, want to let some primavers players some mintues!
I'd rather that Alex does not start in this stupid friendly because Milan injures our players in this game. I'd play a bunch of school boys for this match.

Where have you been?

Only Ale being MUCH better than Diego or Diego playing very bad does justify Del Piero starting over Diego from a fan point of view who cares about the team in the long run (I'm not one though). I agree with Del Neri's decision to play Diego and to have him in his plans and yes, age is/must be indeed the basic reason for it. Diego is probably going to have a long career here so he has to get adapted to the system and the atmosphere as soon as possible and for this, he needs to play.

I'm completely satisfied with the role Ale has in the team at the moment even though as someone who is more of a Del Piero fan rather than the club's I prefer to see him play more and more. I won't compare this to Alex-Zlatan case some years ago because Capello ruined the team with constantly preferring an extremely out of form player to someone who was being effective anytime he got the playing time and he was only 31 back then.

So far he's been more effective than Diego but I have no problem with Diego starting the games. If Ale keeps the good form he can find his spot in the first team.
He decided (freekick and a corner) more but his game wasn't as influential. Far from it.

He's old and he simply can't cover as much. It helps our team but it hurts when he plays as well.

And we look clueless without Diego, like it or not.

Why should I like/dislike it? I don't know about this season because I only watched the game against Strum (where Diego was average) but in the last season, we looked clueless with or without Diego. I was never impressed with him at all. He had 3 or 4 good games and that was about it. Other than that, he was average at his best days. I sure hope he plays better this season but I think it's just right to be skeptical about that.

He scored some and had assists. For his first year in Italy and a season in clueless Juventus it was more than decent.

I'm talking about it now. I've seen all games so far and it's a sure thing we look like crap without him. With our new signings it's probably better now.

As for Alex, like I said, we lose as much as we gain with him on pitch.

Alex scored more and had assists too, mind you, in less playing time. Don't go there because you can't win anything :D

He was average at best last season. One of our better players though which is not actually a thing to brag about.

Just because we didn't have a decent team last year doesn't mean your theory is spot on. It's not Del Piero's fault we conceded so many goals last year. It's not his fault Ciro couldn't get his work done.

And personally I don't think we lose as much as we gain with him on the pitch. Not at all, you're underrating the times he saved our team. Starting from Ranieri's 1st year up until now. We surely gain more with him on the field.

I like this super sub role Del Neri seems to be giving him for most of the matches. I think Del Piero himself likes it too that he can still be considered like that when he'll be 36 years old in a few months in a team as big as Juventus.

Long live Ale.

Absolutely

I think it's clear the guy has lost...erm... an 1/8th of a step or so over the years... :shifty:

But I am absolutely loving watching him run at tired defenses. He's puts them under significant pressure, and they're prone to making mental mistakes... that's the legend factor. ADP's got mind control on tired defenses... hugely intimidating.

Loving the super sub role. In those last 25-30 minutes, it's like Ale all of a sudden just rolls back the clock a few years...

I'm not judging by that theory alone. Ciro even thought of benching him while Del Piero didn't allow that. He was placing an extra pressure on him to play him and hey, benching Alex isn't easy

Under Ranieri he did good but nobody was mentioning what happened two years ago, but now. I'm not underrating anything, he saved our team many times and he will still save this season, but that doesn't have to anything with my point again. It's obvious he's getting weaker every season and there's simply no 36yo striker that can play for 70' and where team benefits from that. You will probably defend him even when he's 40 though. There's nothing wrong in it but let's face it, he's fading man. If we had Mourinho he wouldn't get to play much at all and there's a reason.
