Forget about this season. I don't know how it ends, I don't know if we are physically and mentally strong enough to make it for the CL.
All I know is that a team which plans to compete in the first level in Europe MUST NOT be led by a 36 yo player. I'm all for Ale playing (and starting) our remaining games in the league because he is (by far) our only player upfront who can still change something in the game by one moment of brilliance or magic no matter how old he is. However, whether we are going to play in the CL next season or not, we must find a replacement for Ale as soon as possible giving Ale a role similar to the one Giggs has at Manchester. Someone who can be very much useful when experience is needed. Someone who can add something to our play.
Now if his replacement doesn't live up to the expectations at first, even if Alex offers more than him to our team, we still have to stick to the young boy. This "the better player must start" theory doesn't apply here anymore. We can't establish our plans based on a player who is going to retire very soon; if not this season, the next one then.
I love Ale and I'm sure that when he retires, I'm not going to be attached to this club as much as before but I also know that we desperately need to rejuvenate this team, to make a new face, to improve. By no means do I say that Alex is our problem. This is really stupid. I just believe that at certain points in time you simply have to dissociate from your past (as much as it hurts) and to move on.
