If a great captain is one who admits that he wanted to injure players on the field, then I'm sorry Del Piero is not a great captain. If a great captain is one who lets his team mates run around and intimidate the ref and mock him on the field, then I'm sorry Del Piero isn't one.

But if a great captain is one who commands respect without having to utter a word, bring fear to the opponents hearts without showing a sign of anger on his face, if a great captain is one whom even the opponents fans respect, then Del Piero definitely is one. I don't know if he's the best captain in the world, because its not quantifiable. But he's definitely one of the best. To put the likes of Terry, Ballack, Roy Keane over him is ignorant and stupid.

If all the juve coaches think del piero should be our captain, if the team thinks he should be captain and think he is a great captain. Who are we to even doubt that?
IMO Alex is one of the few captains who shows all his emotions on the field while he is coaching the team, sign of a true leader and captain!

Look, you can think that I hate Del Piero as much as you want. Its not like I have to answer you and you're not the judge of who loves and hates Del Piero. Believe it or not, I did grow up with Del Piero as my favourite player. The people that know me know that I like him, they know how many Del Piero shirts I have but they also know that I think he shouldn't be a starter anymore.

Am I disregarding Del Piero as a captain in general? No, thats crazy. But this season, when the team has been shit, I haven't seen him step up. All I see is how many goals he's scored.

You can like or dislike Javier Zanetti, but the way he lead the team yesterday and how he acted out there, I haven't seen Del Piero be close to that in a while.
