Saying Del Piero has never shown determination makes you wonder if he should be added to the engongo bongo group:D, I mean that's really one of the most retarded shits I've read since a while now.
No i understand what his trying to get at but i don't agree with it.I wont laught at him or mock him because he is actually a good poster.

JuveJay...argue with what I have written, not words you put into my virtual mouth.

Azzurri...Your descent into vulgarity and awfully put into english insults clearly shows your side of the argument.

Byrone...thankyou, mildly, for understanding, that whilst my opnion my be somewhat antagonistic to your opinion, it is nonetheless, founded upon, in my view, solid, and understandable instincts.
Nah it's cool man.You just decided on the wrong example to criticize.

Thats tallent you are talking about and no one here is saying that he lacks it.
No its not.Nicklas Bendtner scored a hattrick that won the match for Arsenal against Porto. Are you telling me that buffoon is talented?

How often does bendtner do this? There are a lot of talented players who score vital goals or assist them and they are by far captain material. Scoring vital goals youself is talent, while making others around you play better score assist is being influantial and thats what a captain should be, an influential figure on the field, for people to look at when the odds are down.

Even said this, I still think Del Piero is a good captain, but certainly not the best in the world and in my oppinion not even near the best in the world. Imo a captain should have both characteristics that Azzurri7 and poet mentioned although it should be more to the poets side at least on the pitch, your captain should be the first one to bleed for the team on the pitch, while off it he should certainly not be like JT and should show class.

You should try other ways to be sarcastic. That was a show of respect & not applauding any players captain abilities.

Stop acting like a doofus.
I'm not, I'm just saying he wasn't applauded because he was a good captain, but because he had performed superb.

NEVER! It was his first ever hattrick FFS! I'm sorry but are you saying that scoring vital goals is not being influential? DP has shown tons of talent & has been influential in countless matches during his career.

I never said DP was the best captain in the world,in fact nobody in this thread did. You're just trying to be an ass because there are some that love DP way too much.I for one am not a huge DP fan like Rab but i can say without a shadow of a doubt that DP has been one of the best captains for Juventus.

So you're discounting DP because he's not overly aggressive & doesn't yell at players when they screw up? I'm sorry but that sort of captaincy is very counter productive imo.

You lot forget that DP could have left for teams like man utd & arsenal on countless occassions. The man has given up his best years for this club, looked past the huge pay checks & countless chances to join teams that could have given him much more trophies that Juve could ever have.

Steven Gerrard the captain fantastic was so close to joining anepl rival Chelsea.Yes his heart really, really bleeds for liverpool.:howler:

If you bothered reading properly you'd see that i said it was a sign of respect.Fans respect him & why on earth wouldn't his team mates respect him? That was the point i was making to poet.

In fact there were people who said that he is the greatest and there were people who hinted that they think he is the greatest captain.

Anyway, delusion runs wild in this thread.

16.03.2010 COME ON DAVID!

I’m very sorry about what has happened to David Beckham. Being in a final sprint for scudetto, with World Championship only two months away, it’s really hard to believe that an injury like that takes everything away just in a few seconds.
Surely enough the same can be said not only about David’s case, but as I know him well I feel real sorry about what has happened to him. He is a nice guy, a great professional player, and above all the one who plays, being swept along by immense passion for football and for sport in general, the quality that has already allowed him to remain among the leaders for many years, seeking and facing new challenges. Winning them all.
Dear David, I’m sure that this time you’ll win again.Come on, good luck!
See you on the pitch.

Cig, might you add for your posts the link to his website?:) He's a bit angry right now with copyright it seems.

It is

You also forgot...

Ballack the great Captain who almost killed the ref in last years CL vs Barcelona:lol2:

Puyol, greater Captain than Del Piero??? :lol2::lol2::lol2:
You don'T have a clue how much I hate Ballack. A player that has no brain and walks next to the game without being involved, when involved then only to make disgusting tackles, jeez I hate him.

He leads by example. He demands the respect of all around him. He speak FOR the club. His heart beats FOR the club. He is the one player on the field, who whenever the chips are down, and all other heads have drooped, his head remains HIGH, PROUD, DETERMINED, WAR-LIKE.

Del Piero has never shown intense determination. He has never commanded the troops other than through decency, which is enough for some players, as long as there is a manager who demands the DETERMINATION and WAR, but without this, DP, as a capitano, is exposed, as nothing more than a warm hearted, honourable, ultra loyal, ultra nice man. Nice...can be lame. Especially in football. I prefer vicious, and war like, as modern football demands, to Nice and Lame and Loyal.

I can see, very clearly why people consider DP a great captain, but personally, when I am used to captains, like...Roy Keane...John Terry...Baresi...Dunga...Gerrard...Ballack...Puyol.

All of the above, FIGHT, as much as they play. as much as they show loyalty...as much as they show honour...
Better? :shifty:

So, whats going on here?
You're not even good at acting like douchebag. I'll tell you what is going on..

Saying Del Piero cares about nothing other than scoring goals makes you a complete prick and makes me question your football mentality at times. Because personally I've seen several dumb comments but yours was just the dumbest.

Del Piero is the one of the greatest Captains in football world, if not the greatest, and it's not up to you or the other thegutterpoem to say what he lacks to be a great Captain. Players, Coaches and fans worldwide witness that this man has been nothing but a Classy captain and an example to every single footballer in this world.

Professional players are dreaming to be like Alex, dreaming to have his charisma, characteristic and value on the pitch, so don't go around undervaluing him and disrespecting him and then expecting no one to reply to you and act like dumb now saying what is going on.

On a serious note, you might be right, Del Piero cares about nothing but scoring goals....I mean playing as a bench player under Capello for two years makes him one, playing two seasons without CL and a season in Serie B always makes him one.

I suggest the next time you want to say something idiotic like this to atleast consult someone, might be brighter than you.

Forza Capitano!!!

No one is arguing that Del Piero is a great captain, a motivational figure to many young and aspiring players, and a leader by example; at least, no one should be doing so.

However, some members on this forum seem to have this fixation with Del Piero, which is borderline obsessive and unhealthy.

I was thinking about the same incident :lol2:

If a great captain is one who admits that he wanted to injure players on the field, then I'm sorry Del Piero is not a great captain. If a great captain is one who lets his team mates run around and intimidate the ref and mock him on the field, then I'm sorry Del Piero isn't one.

But if a great captain is one who commands respect without having to utter a word, bring fear to the opponents hearts without showing a sign of anger on his face, if a great captain is one whom even the opponents fans respect, then Del Piero definitely is one. I don't know if he's the best captain in the world, because its not quantifiable. But he's definitely one of the best. To put the likes of Terry, Ballack, Roy Keane over him is ignorant and stupid.

i cannot believe those members...i read the posts and don't believe it..i can't imagine a bianconero can disrespect Alex...i would say that that one who disrespects Alex, or saying that he ain't worthy of that arm band, or that he is selfish shouldn't even call himself a fan of Juve. He is the last of that squad that deserves those words.
