Why is Del Piero so awesome?
This is how he plays: "OK here's the ball, here's me, there's my opponent, there's the goal - eyes on the ball - what is the most efficient way to get there? LET'S GO!". No nonsense, no bullshit.

Even in his book he said smth like "I don't even think about it, I just do it and the next thing you know the goalkeeper is taking the ball out of his net and my teammates are running towards me".

Exactly. It only makes sense he'd not make the trip to Atalanta, because there's an international break next week and we don't play Udinese till the 22nd of November, at home. Since Atalanta isn't the biggest of games there's no need for him to make the trip, since we have all players we need to play the 4-2-3-1. Good decision by him / the staff.

Oh, and his website isn't ready yet. :seven:

I know, I'm aching as much to see him as anyone else, he's my all-time favourite player, but since we've got this formation, with gio-diego-camo magic there's no need to rush him back to play against a team like Atalanta. We need him back when he's fully fit.

Trust me.. I feel your pain.

Del Piero eyes double comeback

Alessandro Del Piero can’t wait to make his comeback after the break for international duty so he can help Juventus and the World Cup squad.

The captain has been sidelined for most of the campaign with a series of injuries, but is back training with the side and aims to return against Udinese.

“I wasn’t accustomed to injuries any more, as the last major one I had was four years ago,” said the man who turns 35 on Monday.

“In my hometown they say you need to get the best out of a bad thing, even if it means digging for it.”

He told the Gazzetta dello Sport that there is another advantage to missing several months of the season – preparing for the 2010 World Cup.

“At least I’ll be more rested come the end of the season...”

The Bianconeri travel to Atalanta this evening with only one available striker, as Amauri is suspended with Del Piero and Vincenzo Iaquinta injured.

Diego said this week he can’t wait to finally play alongside Del Piero in their 4-2-3-1 system.

“He can’t wait? What about me?!” joked the veteran. “I will return with more hunger than before, not that I was lacking in that respect.

“As for the tactics, [Coach Ciro] Ferrara is right, we shouldn’t get bogged down in specific numbers.”
