I'm actually kind of nervous of how Diego and Del Piero will play together. Diego seems to be a kind of player where everything should go through him and we all know that Del Piero could be pretty selfish at times on the field. How is Del Piero going to react to the new superstar and that basically everything goes through Diego.
I think so. He tends sometimes to over do things, by keeping the ball for long time and don't release it asap. I don't see this is a problem, because world class player always have this kind of mentality to do whatever to earn the win for their teams. He feels that the team depend on him, and he tries to take care of it on his own occasionly. Last year he could've passed the ball alot to amauri near the box, but he tried to over do things and end up losing the ball, but as the season go, he started understanding amauri way better. He's not selfish, he just feels the need to take care of things on his own that's it.
Ale CRAVES for some creative and technical players to link up with, the type of game that suits him and he wants to play. He was clearly frustrated alot, playing with pedestrian players that can barely do squat (especially when Camo was injured), ended up too much on his plate, that he had to cover the creating responsbility of the midfield too.
Pressure of him delivering on his own tend to get bit too much with such a limited team, it ends with him trying to decide everything on his own most of the time, which can be very good, but bad too when it gets too much, like he is overcompensating. Its not really a set choice (as in being selfish player by nature, he assists most for us after all), but more of a condition of the limited teams requirement of him.

I remember some moments last season, where he acted kind of selfish, when he had his "down time". He preferred shooting on goal instead of passing the ball to a better positioned player (for example against Napoli is what comes first to my mind) and these solutions may not have been the best ones. But that's a normal reaction of a player who wants succed and score again after a long time. He would've been a bad player and personality if he wouldn't give everything to be succesful again. So i would say Alex is anything but a selfish player, just sometimes has selfish moments, which every player has.
