to be fair, i'd honestly say that baggio is quite ahead of ale in terms in international, in 1994 he really was the man that took italy to the final albeit missing a penalty in the final, ale has never really set a world cup alight, but you have to respect him for 2006, he scored a brilliant goal coming of the bench, and took a penalty in the final, no one can take that away for him
I also agree that Baggio is ahead of him, but by a small margin, If Ale reaches the semi's/final in 2010 then he's definitely ahead of Baggio on International level.

Had Del Piero scored the winner vs France in Euro 2000, then things would have looked much different now. But lets see how things goes in the WC2010.

Uncomparable if we're talking about Juve and Juve's history
I know a guy who attended Maldini's last match....... 5 times already.
:lol2:

Ale ain't like that tho, if he says smth he does it.
I remember in one of his interviews he said smth like: "I think before I do, and once I've made a decision, I don't question it anymore".

By the way if alex score from a free kick next match,, that's will be the first time in the history a player score 4 free kicks in a raw
What's your source bro?

That'd be amazing...

But what is more than club's level? If we are talking on International level then maybe Baggio is ahead of him but not by miles. Del Piero winning a WC put him really close to Baggio on International level. As for goals, there isn't much diff as-well.
Sure.
Talent-wise they are at the same level, imo. Judging from the importance they had for their team some will say that Baggio was more influental because he was a one man team in his Juve days and for Italy. But Del Piero was also a one-man team for Juventus many times. It's just that Baggio had some 3 straight terrific seasons, without many great players playing at the same time (Van Basten was injured, Gullit and Maradona were in their 30's and in decline, Romario is remembered mostly because of the WC 1994 and Stoichkov, eventhough great, wasn't on Baggio's level) and it was easier for everyone to spot him.
There was always at least a year distance between Del Piero's great seasons and people didn't find Ale consistent enough (damn injury)
Those who follow Del Piero throughout his career though, know that he is at least on-par with Baggio.

But looking at their time in Juve then we can't even think of putting them in the same category. One of them was a huge star for some 3-4 years while the other one holds all the club records.

you can not blame him,

it's the first time he sees his real father ...

that kid is the alex' first son he had with capellos daughter ... (that was the reason why capello hated alex)

Speaking of Baggio, I don't know if you guys saw this. Apparently there was an interview with Baggio in La Nuova Sardegna where he praises Del Piero.

He said that Ale is a phenomenon and that when journalists thought and wrote that he was done, he proved them wrong by scoring loads of goals, beautiful freekicks and with a serious and professional approach. He went on to say that Ale is an exemplary captain for the younger players, a mentor for the new, and a respected colleague to experienced players like Nedved, Camoranesi and Buffon.

Baggio also went on to say that he enjoyed Mourinho's fights with journalists, and that Roma is like an old woman in need of plastic surgery to recover her beauty and glamour.

Always great to witness the respect that Ale and Baggio have for each other.

By the way, I only saw this in a Swedish newspaper, and not the original source.

It is definitely a lot stricter in recent years.

I went two seasons ago and I needed ID for a name on my ticket and at the stadium the next day I needed ID again to prove that my name was the same as the one on the ticket. I didn't have anything other than a student card which one of the guards didn't like, but another one intervined and let me in.

I thought it was all pretty weird, what would have happened if I had bought my ticket from a tout outside the stadium!?

(should we talk about this more in the Italy trip thread?)

Hehehe, residence permit? :p

Remember going to a Viola-Udinese game in Firenze 7-8 years ago (when they had Rui Costa, Di Livio :touched: etc), and the only conditions the bar teller who we bought tickets from had was, "non of us better be fucking Gobbis" Thats when when I opened my jacket and et voila! showed him the shirt that was like a kryptonite to him :D

Didnt stop there, and this one was jesting atleast, but one guy seriously refused to sell me a bus ticket due to my Juve shirt ("your friend has to get out of my store with that shirt of his, if you want tickets"). Which was amusing but essentially meaningless because we quickly learned NO ONE bothers to pay for bus fares there and we just hoped on at the back like everyone else ;)
