Donadoni To Take Del Piero If…According to the Corriere dello Sport, Italy boss Roberto Donadoni will select Alessandro Del Piero for Euro 2008 providing he agrees to fit in with his tactical philosophy.

galleria zoom Del Piero has not played for the Azzurri since September of last year when he had a dreadful game against France, having been fielded on the left wing.

After the match The Golden Boy seemed to issue an ultimatum in which he stated that he only wanted to play for Italy in his favoured support striker role.

Since making this declaration Donadoni has not chosen Del Piero again, and having been snubbed for last month’s friendly with Spain, many believed that his chances of going to Euro 2008 were over.

However the Juventus captain’s club sensational club form has been impossible for Donadoni to ignore, and there was a large press campaign earlier this week for the forward to be taken to Euro 2008.

The Corriere today says that Donadoni will take Del Piero, but first he needs to speak with him to make sure that he will cause no further problems over tactics.

Donadoni’s preferred system at present is a 4-3-3, a formation which some believe does not suit Del Piero.
