Del Piero Must Be Suffering – Tacchinardi
Former Juventus star Alessio Tacchinardi believes that the out-of-favour Alessandro Del Piero will be suffering over his lack of playing time.
Tacchinardi, who currently plays for Serie B side Brescia, finally parted ties with Juventus this summer after 13 years at the club.
With the exception of the past two seasons which were spent on loan at Villarreal, Tacchinardi enjoyed more than a decade as a team-mate of Del Piero, winning five Serie A titles and a Champions League.
“For many years Del Piero has been the point of reference. He is a player and a person who since he was 20 has had tranquillity and serenity,” said Tacchinardi.
Del Piero has lost his status as a first-choice player for Juventus recently, with Coach Claudio Ranieri preferring David Trezeguet and Vincenzo Iaquinta up-front.
“The pride of a champion makes you never want to remain on the bench. It disappoints me to see him not starting, however this is football,” added the 32-year-old Tacchinardi.
“In certain teams you have to just accept it, but I am convinced that inside he is suffering a lot.
“I personally believe that he still has a lot to offer. He is a great force and has the motivation and enthusiasm of a young boy.”
