Del Piero Latest In Juve Contract Dispute
Juventus skipper Alessandro Del Piero is now involved in a contract dispute with the Old Lady.
Del Piero is seeking a contract on the current terms running through to 2010, while TuttoSport claim that the Juventus bosses are offering him one year less, and that too on reduced terms.
Juve have had contract disputes with quite a few of their senior players this summer, with both David Trezeguet and Mauro Camoranesi coming close to leaving the club.
Gigi Buffon and Pavel Nedved will also stay on (though the issue was less financial in their case), but it seems like their skipper's long term future is now in question.
There is no immediate threat, but Del Piero, now 32, will be a free agent next summer unless he pens a new contract.
He wants a two year extension on exactly the current terms (5 million euros a season), while Juventus are offering him 4.5m, and one year less.
The prospect of heading into the season with a cloud over the Del Piero's future is not what the Old Lady bosses will have in mind, but they will need to up their offer in order to strike a deal.
