He was rested to be available for the Napoli match! Remember, Alex picked up a yellow for mimicing the Pescara player's amateur dramatics. If he had gotten another booking in the Alibinoleffe match, he would've missed the Napoli match. There were 5 bookings in the Pescara game:- Zebina, Del Piero, Birindelli, Zanetti & Chiellini. If DD had played all, barring any already suspended, and they had got booked, they would have missed the Napoli game. DD probably played safe & rested Alex to keep him available for the Napoli game. We have a lot of games ahead of us & we need as many players available as possible.
