Donadoni Happy With Azzurri Progress 12/10/06
Italy coach Roberto Donadoni believes his team are "back on track" to secure Euro 2008 qualification after the 3-1 win over Georgia.

The Azzurri, who beat Ukraine 2-0 at the weekend, moved to within two points of group leaders Scotland thanks to goals by Daniele De Rossi, Mauro Camoranesi and Simone Perrotta.

And with the world champions set to host Scotland on March 28, Donadoni is confident his team are starting to hit top form after a shaky start.

"We have taken six points in two games and we look to the future with calmness. Thanks to these results we are now back on track to qualify for Euro 2008," he said.

Donadoni also insists Alessandro Del Piero's international career is not over after the striker was left out of the squad in Tbilisi.

The Juventus forward was left to watch the game in the stands as Donadoni selected Antonio Di Natale in attack.

"It has been a technical decision. I like Alessandro and let's not forget he started against Ukraine. He is a great professional and I can imagine that he wasn't happy with my decision. He will have other possibilities in the future but it will depend on him," Donadoni added.

Di Natale believes his performance proved he is worthy of a place in the team.

The Palermo forward, who was not a member of the World Cup winning squad, said: "I think I proved to Donadoni that I can be a part of this group.

"There are great players here, all of which are world champions but I really think I can give my contribution to this team."

Poor Alex, he will have to score from the bench again and brace the Azzurri squad like he did with Juve last season.

Donadoni you shit, put him in first team, and why did you bring Inzaghi as well if he ain't gona play. What a waste of time.

hey people don't be harsh on donadoni ... he excluded Gilardino and Cassano for his reasons ... I think that he's still in his trial period .. No manager has DP in his team and don't use him sooner or later even friggin Crapello had no other choice but to use him ...

Donadoni doesnt deserve to be Azzurri coach. Look at what the hell he has done. I'l curse him 4eva.
Now we should look 4wards to Alex's 200th goal in Treviso. Maybe his time w d NT has been all along difficult, but Juventus fans always look out 4 him.
Forza captain!

I think Ale has done enough to show that he is more than "useful" to a team...Wtf kind of "techincal" decision did Donadoni make? What is lacking in Ale's technique? That he doesn't give a better BJ than Di Natale???

In that case donadoni is an idiot for not telling the truth... and for have taken alex to georgia just to " see the country" when he is a world champion, and donadoni a looser

Then what's the point in not including him on the bench? He said technical reasons.. What a stupid reason from an Idiot coach.

Del Piero to be retired from international football with the title world cup champion and euro cup runner up mdeal, a lot of great players like Beckham,Raul,Ballack,Van Nistelrooy, Cruff,Eusebio,Best dun hav the chance/luck to achieve that...so i think it's enough for DP. I don;t wanna see him getting humiliated like this, he should concentrate on bringing Juve back to seriaA and win the seria A and perhaps CL again would be a more realistic target. No point following this azzuri team again coz this squad doesn;t hav enuf talent to win euro2008...in another two years time, i can see Nesta and Cannavaro getting older, maybe their pace slower, and i wonder will Totti come back?? and wat role will he play in the NT??for me, home ground vs France will be a stiff test to see how this azzurri squad really can do...and the match away to Scotland as well..
but i think the team that hit the top form now is Germany and perhaps Sweden..do u dare to say that the squandra azzura now has the ability to beat them??? i certainly don;t think so, with Don in charge..

Don is a fag

If you mean the word "fag", as I believe you to mean it, then why are you using it as an insult?

Especially on this particular thread where homoerotism runs rife through every page. Take a close look into the mirror my friend.

Please accept my apologies if I am wrong.
