Please people, let's not start saying he chokes when it counts. Let's leave these things to others, cause we know that if we look back, everytime we won something, he has always been decisive.
From the time when as a primavera player he scored an hattrick against a big team in a moment of crisis of our team, till when he scored against Germany some days ago.

he has proven that he is a great player no doubt......and that he is a juventus legend. there will probably never be another player like him playing for juve again. i didnt mean exactly what i said. i just meant that in his entire career he hasnt played the best football in the world cup. he has shown brilliance at time but other times he looks nervous. he has been good for italy but when the world cup comes along he doesnt play to what im used to seeing. i think this is the game where he can make a mark and set him in the history books...... i was a little harsh but in saying he needed to prove something but i no and he expects alot out of himself because he is an amazing football player.
Of course you don't. At Juve he plays in his position, as a forward, while in the NT he's almost always a midfielder.
As for the WC, let's not forget that in 98 he was injuried (and shouldn't have been called), in 2002 he played little, but managed to score and till when he was on the pitch we were leading against Korea and what to say about 2006? It doesn't seem too bad to me.
The EC? Unfit in 96 (non that the team did much better than him), midfielder/LB in the final stages of the tournament (but let's remember that if it wasn't for the defence we would have won also without his goals), unfit (he shouldn't have been called after not having gotten his form back after the injury) as the rest of the team in 2004.
The truth is that in the last 10 years not many Italian players have had better tournaments than him and that's why things have gone not so good. :frown:
