Del Piero has to score in the WC and Italy has to go far.

Something I notice :

I look at Raul and I say, damn, these players had similar history. Both great for their clubs for many years (though Del Piero much better :p ), both had disappointed 1998 and 2000 competitons for whatever reasons. Both seemed to be on a great run and form in 2002 but were unlucky not to go further. Both failed to advance in 2004. Now both wanted to make a great last tournament, last chance. Raul managed to score but went home. I hope Del Piero proves he can go with Italy to the end !

Yeah...I agree with you. I also think the same thing. They are very similar. Only Raul is younger than Del Piero..

The problem with Toni is that he is the player who has played most among the forwards. Not only he played a lot during the season but he was the main player in the team; I think he's exhausted and it is appearing now.
Something i don't really like from Lippi Italy system, it seem they are lack of domination and power in the middle. Both Totti and Pirlo can't combine well.

I think DP had a very good match against Australia.. He did exactly what Lippi told him.. He gave chances to Toni and Gila which were almost "tap in"

Lippi is a great coach.. One of the greatest ever. He really deserves to lift the WC.

totti doesnt help out the midfield aswell as ale does, thats y ale must start all of italys games for me. perfect example of this was ale in the wondergol against messina, picked up the ball deep in midfield, ran and scored

del piero is class. when he was the first person to run and hug totti after he scored just shows you what kind of person he is. he really wants to win one world cup and i hope he gets his chance. he is the best kind of player on and off the field. im glad i grew up in this era watching him play and i hope i watch him for many more years.

It doesn't matter how old they are, they are from the same era, raul started top level football at 17, del piero at 19, and usually a footballer has about 10 years of good play at the top level, this would make sense, as both raul and ale have gone down since the ages 27 and 29 respectively, and another similarity is they're both the former "golden boy's" of their countries, and if were being honest, they are both shadows of what they were

By the way Totti and Del Piero are friends. They do not hate or envy each other as the media always try to make of it.

A scene I always remember, Juve V Roma 2003-2004 season when DP got a mascular injury and ha to leave 10 min from the start. While DP was hopping to the bench (he was really frustrated that he did not want help from anyone) Totti went to him and walked next to him and made sure he is ok till he reached the bench.. I think I have a video or a picture of the incidence will try to the find it and upload it.
