He could also take Totti's postition if Totti isn't fit enough for the first game of the WC. Don't forget that Inzaghi is in the team as well.
Inzaghi's a great substitute. When the goal doesn't come, Lippi'll put him on and I think it'll be Inzaghi's last minute goal that will see us in the final :D.

Gattuso and Ale were repeatedly insulted during the training by an unknown man, hidden behind some bush. Gattuso didn't react, but Ale lost his patience and screamed to this "man" to stop or, if he had courage, to go and tell him to his face.

It must have been really something if our Ale got so angry.

What's this about??

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Subito Zoff poi Del Piero

Torino. Serie A?

I respect your opinion that DP should not be sold. Part of me wants to keep him, however the benefits of selling him would be much greater. I would rather help the club in general than pay attention to Del Piero's welfare. I guess thats just difference in opinion. I was the same way as you until Zidane was sold, so after that I changed my view on the club.

Yea, so I was doing some reading down memory lane...:eyebrows:

Thats right. It was said today that Alex lost his patience and got really mad during training when several fans were "booin" him and other Juventus players, which drove Alex to react this way and ask the Fans to Shut Up.

@Seven...oh Please, Alessandro is also a human, we always expect Class from him and we all know how much Class he got inside of him, but there are limits my friend, he's not a machine.

Italian fans are always like this, instead of supporting their National Team, they're going wild booin Juventus players everywhere.

Shame...

Del Piero likely to start for Italy: Lippi

AFP
May 27, 2006
ROME (AFP) - Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero appears to have won his battle with fit-again Francesco Totti for the playmaking duties in Italy's World Cup campaign.

Italy coach Marcello Lippi has indicated that he will start Del Piero in an attacking midfield role previously occupied by Totti until the midfielder broke a bone in his left leg in February.

Totti has not played a game since suffering the injury and after seeing Del Piero during a week-long training camp Lippi clearly feels the diminutive attacker will be the better bet.

Del Piero's inclusion would see Italy adjust their formation to field a three-pronged attack, with Del Piero operating in the hole behind strikers Luca Toni and Alberto Gilardino.

"Totti is difficult to replace but we have won without him before, and in all of our most recent matches," Lippi said.

Italy open their campaign against Ghana on June 12 in Hanover before matches against the USA and Czech Republic in Group E.

:howler: if that's true I'm gonna have a good laugh. For months the Italian media have cried about Totti, hell he even got his own page in la gazzetta so we could read all about his progress :howler:

Well, he can't expect to be fitted right into the starting eleven. Ffs he has been injured for a long time, he's lucky that he was taken to Germany in the first place!

Why wouldn't he? I think Del Piero will be in Italy's first 11 anyway.

How many players can they put on the bench in the WC in fact?
I mean, they aren't allowed to have 12 substitutes, are they?
nop. Coach is allowed to use all 23 players.

I'm sure most expect Totti to start the first game.
