Just like Caressa said. The moment was even more emotional for Juventini as Del Piero is a story of fathers telling their kids about Del Piero, then those kids growing up with Alex and 20 years later, as their younger years come to an end so does his career at Juventus. An end of an era in many ways.

Del Piero has always been one that has given, not taken and he is continuing that with his soccer schools.
He played as a winger, one man down, against Australia and gave it all. Karma thankfully allowed him to take his moment against Germany. What a moment.

I am so so happy, even it was at a distance, that when I saw him the only words that came out of my mouth were Grazie. What else can you say? Being as humble as he is he gave me the thumbs up and bowed his head. Amazing moment.

Oh man, me and my dad watching these...Both in tears. My mum says why are you crying, all he says is Del Piero. We are so lucky to have seen this man play, even luckier to ride the rollercoaster with him, once again even luckier to have had him as the caption of OUR team.

Dude, he's just a guy. I know he was our captain and I was as big a fan of his as anyone here, but enough with the idolatry.

You can't take away this beautiful part of our childhood, idolizing your favorite player.

It's a nice and special feeling no matter how old one grows. :touched:

I know, but after the age of 18 that sort of ends, no? I mean, if I were to meet Del Piero right now, I'd probably tell him I was a fan of his and that he had a great career. I doubt I'd be too amazed to speak.

Maybe if you meet Obama, Ban Ki Moon or Bill Gates or someone like that you're intimidated. But Del Piero's a pretty regular guy. And I say that with the utmost respect.

I wasn't intimidated at all. Grateful rather. I wouldn't have that feeling with anyone else. I wasn't too amazed to speak, I got a bit emotional and the first thing that came out was thank you basically.

Oh, you are correct..Stockton was providing for Karl Malone back then :)
My first NBA days as fan

Stockton + Malone vs Jordan + Pippen, I loved those days, waking up early or staying up late, having mom do me some sandwiches while laying down watching playoff finals.

There were other names I loved watching, Miller, Alonzo Mourning, Kidd, Gary Payton. Wow, fucking time passed so fast I am depressed now.

I know if I ever meet him I want to hug him, even if I was 50 years old. I don't think I'll talk much, I'll mostly smile I'm sure.

I don't know. I guess I have a different attitude towards celebrities than most. Don't get me wrong, I loved him as a footballer and I was very happy when he performed well, but I'm not sure I'd try to talk to him if I saw him crossing the street.

Part of me doesn't want to know Del Piero, I want to see him as the footballer. Another part thinks he's just a guy I don't know, so why would I talk to him? If we ever were to meet I'd simply say I admired him very much as a player, but I can't say meeting him is anywhere near my bucket list.

I don't really care much about celebrities, I'm shy to even bother them in public.

But Del Piero, I'd definitely bother and shake his hand.
