Report: Del Piero agrees contract
Alessandro Del Piero is reportedly ready to put pen to paper on a new contract with Juventus.

The captain’s current deal expires on June 30 and negotiations have been dragged on to this late stage.

According to the latest reports from Turin, Del Piero has reached a basic agreement for a one-year extension.

It will provide €1m per season – a massive drop from the €4m he earns at the moment.

There will also be clauses and performance-related bonus elements to the deal.

Del Piero has been with the Bianconeri since joining their youth academy in 1993 and will turn 37 in November.

Who says this will be his last season. If we rely on Matri and Quag to start then I'm pretty sure Ale will end up benching one of them. Until we sign a quality SS Del Piero will be around. I expect two seasons more.

Yup, especially when he could have gone to some team in the middle east, Japan, MLS, etc and made a shitload.
I remember in his last famous statement concerning his contract and the blank sheet thing, he said something, that if he was looking for figures and earning more he could have easily left Italy and head somewhere else. Even now.

I know the middle-east/gulf countries are willing to pay him millions just to have him eat corn and seeds on their bench.

Our board acted as if they're feeling pity for Ale and are awarding him something just to keep him quiet.

Well, I guess spending and paying wages on Martinez, Motta, Amauari, Iaquinta and many others is wise-money spend while on someone like Del Piero it's just to keep the fans quiet.
