I am upset when i read that DP is done, he is done and he has been proving this for a very long time. Eventually he will be forced to retire and get a marginal role maybe next year, maybe in two, i dint know, but he is not done yet.
Yes he has lost a lot of acceleration and he can make the optimal use of his dribbling,
but he is such a complete player and have so many skills, that he can still compensate for that!
If he was only a good dribbler, he wouldnt, he is so much more than that.
He can still out dribble everyone, when he is in the box.
He is a great tactical awareness and uses it to be in the right place at the right time. That would compensate for a decrease of stamina and speed. His exp puts him at the right place.
And even if he cant make those counterattacks anymore, he has a great short, long and lob pass, he can set up someone else!
For such a dedicated SS, he also has an unusually deadly killer instinct.
If he can regularly keep up the pace with a world class finisher, like Trezequet,
one can understand DP's level of brilliance. Not to mention his flawless PK and FK skills, which are not affected by stamina and speed!

His presence also has a double mental effect, both to our team and opposition.
The enemy players become nervous when the face that dangerous legend and our team players become more effective by this inspirational leader!

For all these reasons, the presence of DP can make the difference at any time.
We, the Juve fans, above all ought to to know them and respect him for his life time service to this club. We also know enough to respect DP the man.

However, there are some rare particular times that DP should be criticized,
denying Deud his first goal, to score a hat trick, is one of those moments.
It was egoistic and unlike the DP we love, DP was always like a father to those kind of youngsters. He teach them, guides them, love them.

Having the opportunity of watching him for a long time (decades i would say)
i know that at some certain moments, a goal can be particularly important for him.
When he makes a come back, from an injury or off form period.
When we need a goal to qualify. When this goal we will mark an important milestone. When he wants to prove his doubters. When he wants to prove that we are not crisis. etc
DP then becomes nervous and egoistic, momentarily though, he feels all the heavy pressure of having to carry the old lady at his shoulders.
And it is this strength that helped us to go past limits some times.
It is this determination that kept us competitive, when others started to fail.
It is this faith that helped DP to come back after his injuries.

In the long run, it has been proved that those moments are not malefic for our future. When DP gets pasts these moments, he is simply brilliant.
DP needed those goals now, maybe to prove at his self and the naysayers that he isnt old enough, this decline will not be his dying moment. Maybe because of some other reason, the pressure from the Treze incident, his off form month, or any other external influence.

Whatever it was, i hope that we are past it and we can enjoy the ol good DP, at least until the end of this season...

Come on, this shit is dumb. Del Piero of course deserves criticism when it is necessary. Hypocrites need to take the pill.
DA! (Not that I am defending myself, I didn't criticize him for months)

Good thing I wasn't on LIVE....I was brought here for these type of morons.

They should define criticism.
It's not about criticising as such. Del Piero was having a bad game yesterday and I won't deny that. But the way in which some talk about him is disgraceful. As a juventino you could at the very least respect him for what he has done for us throughout the years.
DA!

how is it irrelevant when his two comments contradict
I agree with badass that it's disgusting to criticize the old guard because of one or two bad displays disregarding all they've given to the club. It pisses me off when people insult Nedved, Trez or Ale but then again no one is bigger than the club and I don't see any contradiction between these two. Trez was criticized for being stupid with those repulsive and ruinous words of his to the media not for having a bad game or being injured all the time.

Yea you're always predicting Inter to lose points and Ale to score braces or hat-tricks. Inter on the other hand is winning the title and Ale has scored 9 goals so far :D

This picture says a lot to me.

His movement for both his goals yesterday was superb!

The first one he starts out on the wing and the second the Bologna centreback doesn't have a clue what way he is going

Including National Team goals?

258 club goals in total, plus 25/27 for Azzurri.

+rep for the pic, King Ale.
257 for Juve, 27 for Italy = 284 goals.
You said 258 club goals so i assume he scored only 1 official goal for Padova?

In that case he has 285 goals and he's 15 goals away from the big 300.

Indeed. One official goal for Padova.

Anyway, his one goal is worth 6 Inzaghi tap-ins.

How many penalty kicks has Del Piero missed in his career? The infamous one against Inter, one against Chievo in Bentegodi (we won the match 4-1 I think), one against Deportivo, one against Roma (last season), any help?
