I would never want them to be relegated . If they were relegated and we won the scudetto they would say we won it because they weren't there . I'd rather Juve win the Scudetto with Inter at its best .

Del Piero Set To Smash Juve Record
Juventus icon Alessandro Del Piero admits that he is extremely proud as he is about to break the club’s all time appearance record.Del Boy has played 550 games for the Old Lady since signing for them in 1993 from Padova. Pinturicchio has come along way since then and he has won many honours during his 15 year reign.

He burst on to the scene and he ended Roberto Baggio’s reign at the club. Baggio at the time was one of the world’s greatest players.

At the moment Gaetano Scirea holds the record with 552 appearances and it seems likely that Del Piero will surpass that figure.

“Reaching Scirea’s record in terms of appearances is something which will make me proud in so many ways,” Del Piero told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s an important achievement by I hope to enter the hearts of people like he did. I’m different to him but I want to emulate the respect he had in the world of football.

“It’s important at reaching this record but what’s more important is what I did to get here.

“Sometimes the way in which you reach this level is more important than the reaching the final objective, this is what I like most because the records say a lot but so does the way in which you reach those levels.”

Del Piero is perhaps Juve’s all time greatest player right up there with the likes of Scirea, John Charles, Omar Sivori, Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Bettega, Michel Platini, Dino Zoff and Claudio Gentile.

so he will equal it against inter if he plays against empoli, i say let him on as a sub against empoli and start him against inter so he can score a brace on him equaling the record.

Alex proud to follow Scirea

Alessandro Del Piero is closing in on the great Gaetano Scirea’s Juventus appearance record as he prepares to make outing 550 at Empoli.

Scirea is regarded as one of the greatest Italian players in history and he played a staggering 552 games for the Old Lady between 1974 and 1988.

Pinturricchio will move within two games of the defensive legend after tonight’s test in Tuscany and the achievement is clearly on his mind.

“It is important to remember Scirea because beyond the numbers and the victories he was the incarnation of a certain style, class, temperament and intelligence,” Alex explained on Sky Sport Italia.

“He was a better role model than anyone else - a point of reference for many people - and it’s right that he still is."

A member of the 1982 World Cup winning squad, Scirea was renowned for his sportsmanship and his name has been attached to various youth tournaments and fair play awards.

“As a little boy I used to watch the Juve with special attention and what I remember of Scirea was his calmness and his elegance,” Del Piero continued.

“He never seemed to be working hard. He was also a loyal man that everyone appreciated.”

Scirea tragically died in a car crash in 1989 while working as a Bianconeri scout in Poland, just a year after hanging his boots up.

Nothing new here, Del Piero choosing the rightest words, as always...
