Well, all of the Dutch players came forward including Van der Sar for a corner. The corner came to nothing so Van der Sar and Van Bommel ran back to cover, but one of the Czechs played a superb long ball to find Baros who skinned VDS and then fooled Van Bommel to score.

The goal that really caught my eye though, was that of Poborsky. Neddy's through ball to set him free was outrageous, and Poborsky's chip was equally brilliant.

injury time, van der sar for some reason goes to the half field line(to cheerlead i think) while Holland take a corner or sth, but then the czech dudes counter and baros gets the ball in the dutch half and vds runs back, but stops before entering the box and starts flapping at baros...u have to see it ;)
 great description, I can see it happening...!

I see. Well, seems like Sorensen, who came yesterday in our field for a corner, but, too bad, our counter wasn't as fast as the Czech one :)

I'll see the goal if they're gonna give it on ESP highlights, otherwise no.

If you ask me, the Czechs could beat Italy any time. They are without a doubt Europe's best team! Their only problem being depth, they don't have many good subs.

Iulia - the referee was Portuguese and the tackles from Davids were on Nedved (midfield) and Poborsky (penalty area). I think it's Poborsky anyway, I'm not exactly sure but I DO know the first one was on Nedved.

Great drama touch of the evening (taken from a newspaper):
As Milan Baros scored the final goal to make it three one, the team collapsed. Fatigue, frustration and injustice soared through the nation. Seconds after the final whistle, a 12 second long power outage struck Amsterdam. Sky scrapers went dark, subways stopped in their tracks and the capital came to a stand-still. Out of shock, so it seemed."
    That actually happened?!?! Whoa...

    Pretty spooky, no?

Of course the Czechs could beat Italy, who argued against me when I said that they are gonna win the Euro 2004 and Holland will be second ?! :p

Thank you for the informations, Erik, so he tackled his own teammate ... sigh ... like Mutu with Jesper and so on ... this isn't too fair ;)

That was just a terrible play by everyone on the Dutch team....

    EMPTY STADIUM FOR ORANJE?
TICKETS FOR MOLDOVA MATCH WON'T SELL

The Dutch public has had enough, season ticket sales for clubs in the country soared over the past couple of days but no reservations have been made as yet for the National team's match agains the Moldovans in Eindhoven in a couple of weeks time.

A survey by a Dutch newspaper showed that the public is disgusted by the lazy millionaires of the NT. It's seen as a big disgrace that a bunch of lazy footballers wrongly shape the image of a people who still put up a daily fight for survival against the sea. In a country where hope never fades and where people never stop fighting no matter what, nobody wants to be associated with players who seemingly have no character.

Sorry but that's absolute rubbish. Our players were dazzled after the sent-off, we play total football and when a player is sent off, it is more disastrous to us then it would be to other teams. As for Van Nistelrooy's reaction - do you seriously want them to keep every emotion inside? Don't you love the raw emotions that are such a big part of football?
I am sorry Erik, but I was surprised to see Ruudtje's act like that..that shouldn't have been done by a pro footballer like him. Even Advocaat didn't see him or react.
I read an article about Ruudtje had a problem with Davids before The Czech match, I also heard about van Bommel had an argument with Davids a couple months ago. I dunno if that's true or not.
But if Holland NT had a conditions like that, it could be a serious problem for the team.
When I saw that match I was just feel sorry that Rafael van der Vaart's goal means nothing after Milan Baros got his goal in the last minute.

Yeah, Davids had a quarrel with those two players. He's just not a team player and if I were coach I wouldn't even select him anymore, he's trouble. At least in the NT.

It such dilemma for the coach I think, a player like Davids is needed by team. Look at Makalele's case, I dunno what will happen to Real Madrid without him in the squad. Milan is nothing without Gattusso in midfield.
Players like that are very strong. Tackles becomes their job in the squad, they play "dirty" so that the playmakers and others can play a beautiful football. Sometimes we don't see their hardwork, sometimes we just see the result and who's scoring on that match. Sometimes it's not fair for them. We forget that a winning is not only belong to a single player (read: the goal scorer) but it's also belongs to the whole team. That's football :)

Btw, congrats for your 14.000 posts, Erik! :thumb:

Yeah thanks, I guess. Damn, that sounds nerdy ... 14.000 posts ... :nerd::D

And I know exactly what you mean but fact is that Davids isn't a team player! He plays his own match and gets banned too often. With virtually everything he does he puts the team in a difficult position, his behaviour is just not tolerable. He HAS to go!

That shows me a lack of chracter more than the DNT's poor play. It's not about which players are playing and how much they make, it's about supporting your country (or you adopted country)... I hope that this is more journalistic flair than actual public opinion.

today in ESPN a commentator made predictions and he said that he thinks holland wont get into euro 2004 because of their players. i hope he's wrong because holland is my bet for euro 2004 and if they use all their potential in the right way they can beat anyone

To tell you the truth, I haven't come across anyone yet who actually believes those players don't give their best when they're on the pitch so I'd got with the journalistic flair bit.

And it's not like Germany, England and Spain put up great performances the past couple of matches either. It's so Dutch to start complaining when the football doesn't look great...
