The languages for the Balkans are in fact very similar. They originated from one language called "old-slavenic" many centuries ago, and the former Yugoslavia (which consisted of Macedonia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro) had one language called "serbo-croatic".
