We have the opposite problem too: people who haven't been to 90% of the states in the country but travel the world over. There's a lot to see here. But we can get by with not ever seeing anything else.

It's kind of like getting used to going to a supermarket and thus never thinking you have a need to visit a butcher, a florist, a dairy, a bakery, etc.
