There isn't a movement, dude, that's what I'm trying to disillusion you of :p

It's just like when the tv weather tells people it's gonna rain so they bring an umbrella to work.

Lots of people listen to your old rock, it's pretty damn mainstream. :D
Ok but you said it's a principle of constantly trying to sell NEW music, that either excludes old rock or it's pretty damn good that it's selling itself 50 years later. :D I see what you're saying, perhaps it is sort of mainstream but I just can't put it in the same basket with todays popular music. I just can't.

But for what it's worth I was always considered sort of an outsider because of my musical taste in high school TBH, not so many people listen to it, at least not in my experience.

No, look. The 50s music isn't being sold, not in big numbers. Everyone's bought it already. That's why they need new music to constantly sell, right? So that's the commercialism everyone hates. If there is a "mainstream" movement, it doesn't necessarily have to fit in with this commercial trend, because people don't have to buy music to be music lovers.

I just think the "mainstream" concept, that is a new hit every week, isn't actually mainstream at all, yes it sells well, but if you really find out what people listen to the most, it's not necessarily that. :)

But for what it's worth I was always considered sort of an outsider because of my musical taste in high school TBH, not so many people listen to it, at least not in my experience.
    hehe :D

Indeed I do, he rocks ;)

And let's not keep Bojinov :p
    He's sooo mainstream. :p

BTW, I "obtained" Tchaikovsky's concerto for piano #1 and I love it, though it's something I've heard lots of times before. I also liked Festival Overture 1812 op. 49. I think it was also in V for Vendetta, great stuff.

I'm thinking about it and I just can't agree with you on this one. To me mainstream is directly influenced by time periods and I can't put together music from the 60's with the music of now. I can't, I can't, I can't. It was mainstream then it's not anymore.

You'll never change my mind. :p

I'll buy that. But when I really start cranking out the 1920s tunes by Maurice Chevallier and Josephine Baker, I don't even think anybody would have called that mainstream for the past 50 years.

But using a last.fm account with AmaroK is as easy as it gets.

Greg, would you like to share some of your 1800s music?
