But more the question is what. If it's cesium-137 we're talking about, yeah -- that 30-year half life is a concern. The rest of the radioactive byproducts aren't so much of a concern for either strength dissipation over distance or half-life that's only a day or so.

 Throw in parts of Indiana and we can take down everyone off DST.

Err, they've been having 6.0+ magnitude aftershocks about every 1-12 hours since then.
My physics teacher was talking about this movie called "Pu 237" today. It's about some guy who got exposed to radiation and could radiate that shit to others.

FUN FACT, it takes 200 years for cesium to drop to 1 percent.

Explosion in the pressure containment area at the Fukushima reactor 2, which contains radioactive substances and water, including Cesium. Last line of defense for the reactor. "Could be worse case scenario for nuclear reactors in Japan."

TEPCO: Vapor observed at Fukushima Daiichi reactor 3, but we can't confirm what this vapor is.

- NHK World

Winds coming from the North, by the way. Fukushima is NNE of Tokyo.

It's very interesting to listen to the translation of these press conferences given the PM of Japan and his subordinates. At the end of some of them, they usually say something like, "sorry for the inconvenience."

That may seem very arrogant compared to what I'm familiar with here in the states. But I assume that in their culture such a sentence is quite different.
